As soon as I walked into this delightful diner I smelled coconut cream pie! It was not my imagination because I asked our server Rita nicknamed “The Pie Lady” who also is the baker, if she had Coconut Cream Pie in house and indeed she said yes!

My wife enjoyed her grilled chicken salad and I had the special which was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans which was exquisite.
For starters we both had a cup of chili which was very tasty.
Rita was very delightful and she shared her expertise and I posted pictures of her wonderful pies and some videos here on this platform. We topped our wonderful meal off with a very large slice of her specialty, coconut cream pie. She has a signature detail in the pie and she uses shaved coconut instead of shredded coconut which adds not only the flavor but the goodness of nutritious coconut!
Come to PJ’s Rainbow Cafe for a wonderful experience in Mountain View, Arkansas, and don’t forget to have some pie and meet Rita!

“The Pie Lady of the Ozarks”

In Mountain View, where the hills hold time
And Main Street hums a slower rhyme,
There’s a café with a Rainbow sign
And a secret sweeter than good design.
Her name is Rita—fifteen years strong,
Hands dusted with flour, mornings long.
Before engines roar or fiddles play,
She’s already baking dawn into day.
Not ashamed of Jesus Christ her Lord,
Her Savior, her hope, her living Word,
She lets her light shine simple and true
Through the gifts God gave her work to do.
Coconut cream piled high and true,
Mixed-berry cheesecake—red, white, blue.
Crusts so tender they hardly resist,
Fork meets plate and the moment is missed.
They come in chrome from hundreds of miles—
Antique cars with polished smiles,
Motorcycles rumbling, leather and pride,
All knowing where the best pies hide.
No billboard needed, no fancy claim,
Just love poured out the same old way.
In Mountain View, through the years gone by,
Lives a legend—faith, flour, and pie. ✝️

We had two breakfasts and one dinner at PJ’s during our recently completed motorcycle trip through the Ozarks. These meals were the highlight of our trip. We actually rerouted so that we could stay a second night in Mountain View just to try the fried grits for breakfast since we had failed to do so for the first breakfast we enjoyed. The trout dinner was perfectly done for our evening dinner. What a great little gem!

I recently visited PJ’s Rainbow Café in Mountain View, Arkansas, and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the Rainbow’s Bigger Better Burger—and wow, it lived up to its name! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it hit all the right notes.

Our server, a young man who was both attentive and friendly, made the visit even more pleasant. He checked in with us just the right amount—efficient but never overbearing.

The cozy and cheerful decor set a great vibe—bright, welcoming, and full of personality. I felt right at home!

One small thing to note: they don’t take credit cards, so bring some cash just in case. Not a big deal, but helpful to know before you go.

I’ll absolutely be back next time I’m in town. Highly recommend PJ’s Rainbow Café for anyone craving a top-notch burger and great service!

Mountain View Arkansas is fortunate to have this gem of a restaurant: Rainbow Cafe. The banana split pie is made from chocolate chip cookie dough as the crust. The filling is fresh bananas and strawberries, and pineapple bits with whipped cream.

The chicken fried steak was crispy and had good flavor. Plenty of side dishes to choose from too!

And everyone that was working there was so happy and nice!

After showing some property in the area, ate here with some friends that came with us. I definitely recommend this place!! I’ll eat here the next time we’re in town. Super tasty!! Fried corn was delicious. Chicken was really tender, everyone else said it was excellent! Iced tea was really good, service was really good…came back for dessert later that day. Hard to beat this place in my opinion. Great prices.

I ordered the eggs with breaded pork tenderloin. Friends ordered a chocolate chip waffle, open face beef sandwich, and the poached egg with sausage. Everyone loved their dishes. Onion rings were good, and the eggs were fresh. The fried potatoes were so delicious with fresh onions and bell peppers .

The ceiling is covered in advertising signs and the walls have shelves with doesn’t old fashioned cookie jars for sale adding to its eclectic atmosphere. The bathroom is wall to wall Elvis decor with a copy of his marriage license and high school diploma. Highly recommend if you’re visiting the area.

The best place to eat in Arkansas!!! The waitstaff is quick and friendly. The restrooms and cafe are very clean. The small town feel and atmosphere make you feel right at home. The food is amazing, no matter what you order it’s perfect. From chicken fried steak to a BLT you can’t go wrong. The best part about this place, are the pies. Ms. Rita makes the best pies, cakes, and cheesecakes in the world. You have to try the blackberry cheesecake!!! The only negative to this place is, it’s small. There isn’t a lot of tables to sit at and large parties are hard to accommodate. You may have to wait for a place to sit, but it’s worth every minute.
