Down-to-earth joint serving old-school BBQ fare, plus steaks & wild game such as kangaroo & gator.

Came from Colorado. Excited for the “best bbq smokehouse” place in Gillette. Came around 1pm on Tuesday. Less than 7 people in there. Menu says market price, which sounds bullshit. No indication of how much meat in menu. At least say it is 1 pound or anything. Coleslaw is awful, Raising Canes has better coleslaw. Wings are like cardboard. Pulled chicken …. More like pulled paper. Dry as hell. Look at the picture. Brisket, not even tender and hot. It is cold. I don’t understand why people like this place so much. Is it the vibe? Or the food? I don’t think its the food. I wish I never come here and spend my money to eat cardboards and papers. Disappointing.

Was incredible! Got the meal for 2 & it was plenty plus some for left overs. Came with 2 sides & soup or salad bar. The fried green beans amazing. Smoked turkey melted in your mouth. Brisket perfect smoke ring & tender. Pulled pork delicious & perfect bark. Ribs fall off the bone. There BBQ sauce was thick, rich, perfect balance of tang. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great salad bar and best soup ever! Service was excellent. Had the wings (awesome), the BBQ sausage, even better! Will be back many times!

Maybe the BEST restaurant in town. Certainly the BEST BBQ in town! So much in their menu is So Good! I did have an issue once where the food took 45mins, but hopefully it hasn’t happened since. Cowboy/ranch/southern style. Great service.

Do not go for the salad bar. We came in for “the best salad bar in Gillette “. Their “large” one trip is a ridiculously small plate, which doesn’t allow room for a piece of lettuce, and the selection, while good and fresh, isn’t much. I’m sure their BBQ is great, but the salad bar is weak at best. Very disappointing.

I stopped here along with some friends on the way back from a backcountry trip in Yellowstone and the Tetons. This place was great and all 11 of us are glad we stopped in. The food came in generous portions and tasted amazing. The price was also very reasonable for the amount we got. Our server was friendly and did their best to check on us frequently. I would definitely visit Pokey’s again if I ever find myself in Gillette in the future!

Recommended by locals. Cool atmosphere. I splurged on the buffalo skewers (supper option) which included s one-visit salad bar and two sides. I included corn and fried green beans. I never had buffalo meat or fried green beans so was pleasantly surprised to be able to dine on “local” cuisine. I figured, if I’m in WY, I may as well eat some buffalo. (A bit pricey, but why not?) The buffalo was cooked medium well and was still juicy. With a bit more added salt on the whole meal, it was delicious! The green beans were impressive. Salad bar was good too. I topped it with rhubarb crisp. Meh, it was good. Service was cordial and kind. I’d recommend eating at Pokeys. If I ever return, I’d try the brisket.

While it’s not the best barbecue I’ve ever had, it’s definitely the best in this part of Wyoming. The service was excellent, the food was good, and you’re going to get a lot of food for your money. In a town with not very many restaurant options, this is one worth looking into.

The best potato salad I’ve ever eaten! Jam packed with dill! Really really really good food, a salad bar with all the fixins, generous portions, friendly wait staff, and that local watering hole atmosphere I love when visiting small town America. Will definitely be back!
