We enjoyed our lunch at Not Your Average Joe’s. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu has many selections including appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts. There is also a full service Bar. Well worth a visit.

Came for Happy Hour and it was amazing!
I got a few drinks and got a few happy hour apps and they were so yummy! Our servers name is Dakota and he was absolutely amazing and funny! The environment was great- they had a nice bar with booth seating surrounding the area. Dimly lit. Nice hangout spot!

This restaurant has a wonderful ambiance — cozy booths, high bar stools, and flexible seating that make it perfect for casual business dinners, family meals, or gatherings with friends.
The Bloody Mary here is excellent — perfectly balanced, with just the right kick of spice and a refreshing tang.
I highly recommend the Fish and Chips. The fish is tender and flaky on the inside, with a crispy, golden batter on the outside. The fries are flavorful and seasoned just right — not your average side dish!
The Bang Bang Shrimp is also a hit — crispy, slightly spicy, and full of flavor.
The Lava Cake — rich, gooey, and perfectly warm inside. The portion is generous and easily shared by four people.
Overall, a great dining experience — tasty food, a comfortable setting, and definitely worth recommending!

Tonight, I was a paying customer at Not Your Average Joe’s with my legitimate service dog. Another patron repeatedly harassed me, challenged my service animal, and approached me aggressively after I had already asked for assistance from your staff.
I notified the bartender of the harassment. I was told she would be kept away from me. That did not happen. Instead, the individual continued to approach me and escalate the situation to the point that I felt unsafe and was forced to leave and eat my food in my car. That is a denial of equal service.
This is disability-based harassment, and under the Americans with Disabilities Act, your establishment has a legal responsibility to protect service dog handlers from discrimination and interference by other patrons.
At this point, I am requesting immediate removal of the individual who is harassing me so that I may return and enjoy the service I already paid for without further disturbance.
If this harassment is allowed to continue and no action is taken by management, I will have no choice but to contact the police to document the ongoing interference with a service animal and file a formal report.
I would strongly prefer to resolve this professionally and without involving law enforcement. However, my rights and safety must be respected.
Thank you for addressing this immediately.

My wife and I have always loved eating at Joe’s. Most of our experience has been at restaurants owned by the original founder and mostly in Dartmouth Massachusetts. This is the first time that we ate at one that is part of the new chain, so to speak. The food was just as good, and of course, the menu has changed. The service was excellent. The bartender overheard our conversation and chimed in with “so you really know the lore!“ if you’d like to get a good meal with good service and a menu that’s a little bit out of the ordinary, this is the place to go

Dinner at Not Your Average Joe’s in Bethesda was enjoyable. Our server, Hedy, was incredibly hospitable—checking in with us periodically and making sure everything was just right. Food and drinks came out in a timely manner, which we really appreciated.
We started with their signature Caramelized Onion Focaccia, paired with a delicious dipping oil of parmesan, garlic, and chili flake—it was the perfect warm-up. The Pineapple Painkiller cocktail was tropical and refreshing, setting a fun tone for the meal. For starters, the Ahi Tuna Wontons were crisp, flavorful, and a hit. The Waldorf Salad was fresh and well-balanced, and the Fish and Chips delivered that classic crispy goodness we were hoping for.
Overall, a great visit with excellent service and satisfying bites.

It located off the intersection the Old Georgetown Rd and Democracy Blvd. it was at the corner of the shopping center building. We were standing inside for more than three minutes, then a staff finally came up to greet us. When I looked around, there were less than ten tables seated. It then took another five more minutes for another staff to take our beverages. Ten more minutes to take orders. Twenty minutes to serve dishes. Their staff had no intention to earn our business. The pizza was very dried to chew. The sandwich bread was slightly burnt. The grilled chicken was blackened. The jambalaya was too salty. An usual family dinner ended up taken more than two hours.

Jessica was an excellent server and made our experience really enjoyable and fun. The food, including the May monthly special crab stuffed haddock with lemon butter sauce, the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, the mashed potatoes (yum), cole slaw and glazed carrot sidedishes, were of good quality, well cooked and presented nicely. Maybe they could have used a tad more seasoning…not sure exactly why but seemed like the taste bullseye was just ever so slightly missed. Enjoyed the pomegranate fizz and espresso martini, but not at all special for the $16 price tag. The $14 peanut butter thing dessert wasn’t exactly as described and although good didn’t match the price either…expected something outstanding or more special. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere very nice. The food and drinks were a solid 4 stars but the staff made our lunch a really fantastic experience, so a 5 star outing altogether.

Have visited several times, but this is the first time I’ve written a review. Overall, we had a good experience. They do seem to have a staffing problem. Saturday night at 630pm is going to be busy, so one would assume there would be adequate staff. There was only one host seating people. She was doing her best, but the line to be seated was pretty long. Once we were seated, (we did have reservations), our server was very friendly and did his best to make our visit pleasant, but he clearly had too many tables. He alluded to the kitchen being slow, but the food was served after only a slightly long wait. Recommend the place nonetheless.
