Visited last week and won’t be back. There’s No Parking and not all service is great service.
Meghan: 10/10 – she’s a sweetheart, knows the menu, and is truly genuine. She definitely made us feel welcome.
Darnell: 10/10 – An amazing manager! Very personable, enthusiastic, and professional. He greeted us walking inside, when we exited and even stopped by our table.
Tia: 3/10 – we waited 2-1/2 hours to be seated— (this is not an exaggeration).we asked about the “no parking” sign and Tia said “ idk” but The young black man, Josh, immediately told us parking options but she just pushed him out the way when she came back and made us wait outside. Darnell, Josh, and Meghan all answered our questions throughout the night about parking and my husband believes they saved us a $500 ticket. As several cars were booed and ticked.
Hannah: 0/10 – No manager should be yelling at their employees in the main dining area of the restaurant. She yelled at that young man and I believe it was truly to embarrass him. He was all over the place working and my heart hurt for him but he held his professionalism very well. I’ve seen her 2x from when I came with my job and she always looked dirty and angry at work. I believe if you hate your job, go somewhere else. The whole restaurant literally stopped when she yelled at him.
Josh : 10/10 Josh saw us still waiting and he immediately tried to seat us outside. He adjusted the heaters for our grandma to sit close to and still fit at the table. He was respectful and kind and seem to doing most of the work from bussing tables, to seating people, to doing work on the iPad around the restaurant. I feel sorry that she treated you this way and attest to you needing a raise. He truly was the highlight of our night. My grandma said he’s in good hands with Darnell as we left out the restaurant.
The food wasn’t that great but we tried something new. I usually get the burger but it was a little too raw and by this time it was so late we didn’t complain but we did tell Darnell we would leave a review

Great atmosphere and service, the waitress was SO HELPFUL. I was there for dinner but didn’t like any drinks at all, they didn’t had any vegan dessert option, so we didn’t eat anything that night but the waitress recommended to come for weekend brunch which I did and found “a few options” that I was able to eat. I wish they can add some more vegan/can be made vegan options on the menu.

Tried this place out with a friend. finding parking is a pain but once you’re there the service is great, fabulous staff and a very cute resturant. the food and drinks were delicious. I tried the Gator poboy on a Mardi Gras special with a pina colada. the sandwich was yummy. lots of bread and was slightly soggy but the meat and sauce were yummy. Pina colada was yummy and on the stronger side. my friend tried the house burger and she recommended. we split an order of beignetts that came out piping hot but with the perfect dough to crisp ratio and generous amount of powdered sugar.

I absolutely loved this restaurant. I chose this restaurant for a date night with my boyfriend and I and we both loved it. I had the red snapper and red beans. I substituted my asparagus for the house salad, which was also phenomenal our server. Josué was so great. He was attentive and he was also super sweet and kind to both my boyfriend and I the jambalaya was OK. My boyfriend had The pan seed chicken with french fries and the grills veggies instead of the salad. He said he loves his drink. We also try the agua frescas. We had the strawberry and basil and I had Naruto and it was also phenomenal the apples in the agua fresca. We’re so juicy. It was all around 10 out of 10 and we would love to come again.

Everything we tried here was absolutely delicious! For starters, we went with the alligator bites—and they were so good we couldn’t resist ordering a second round. The second batch was slightly saltier than the first, but still packed plenty of flavor. The monkey bread was another highlight, served hot with a gooey center that was impossible not to enjoy. For entrees, my husband had the bison burger with fries, which he raved about, and I opted for the steak and shrimp with confit potatoes and asparagus. Each dish was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, making for a satisfying and memorable meal. From the creative appetizers to the hearty, well-prepared entrees, this place delivers on every level and is definitely worth a visit.

Just the name caught my eye while passing, came back to try during Charlotte Restaurant Week, and so glad we did! The overall feeling inside of the place was very inviting, and the food made this spot our new favorite in Charlotte. Johanna was wonderful and kept our drinks full and went above and beyond what we’re used to from wait staff. We will be back.

Our group of 8 got to try such a variety of foods today! My first taste of ceviche was the sampler. Mexican version was my top favorite but all were amazing! I loved the confused potatoes (such wonderful flavors). The desserts were gone so quickly (even with full bellies! The cheesecake and beignets were just oh my delicious! Definitely going back.

10/10 !!! Highly recommend this inviting and flavor filled restaurant! What I look for in a restaurant is 1) Great food 2) Great Service 3) Rememberable Atmosphere and 4) Creating a memory. We came from out of town to celebrate a birthday and left with our bellies full and happy memories. We got the monkey bread, bronzed red fish, and jambalaya. DELICIOUS!! The staff were incredibly hospitable and attentive. I love the “state of confusion” atmosphere and was slightly obsessed over their glass cup that looks like a plastic cup. We had fun eating in the outdoor igloo covered in lights. It was definitely a meal and evening that will be locked into our memories. Do yourself a f(l)avor and see for yourself the awesomeness of this Peruvian restaurant with a New Orleans flare. Again 10/10 recommend!

The food was excellent, but the service made the experience truly memorable. Jay took amazing care of us and brought such a friendly and welcoming energy to the table. He was attentive, thoughtful, and made sure everything felt just right throughout the visit. State of Confusion already offers delicious dishes, but service like this elevates the entire evening into something special. I left feeling appreciated and cannot wait to return.
