I visited the McDonald’s at 233 Shore Road, Belfast, on Friday, June 6, and it was nothing short of an utter disaster.
I ordered two Double Quarter Pounders, no cheese, with large fries and a large shake. While they got the “no cheese” part right, the rest of the order was a complete failure. The patties were paper-thin, dry, gray, and clearly reheated under a heat lamp. There was no way these could be quarter-pound patties — I effectively received two burgers with a single flimsy patty between them.
The fries were cold, limp, and greasy yet tasteless. The shake was watery, lacking any creaminess. This mirrors what dozens of other customers report online: missing items, cold and soggy food, and drinks that resemble diluted water rather than milkshakes. Machines for coffee and shakes frequently malfunction, and staff often fail to correct mistakes promptly, leaving orders incomplete or incorrect. Online reviews confirm this is routine, with patrons describing frozen, undercooked, or dried-out menu items, particularly sandwiches and nuggets.
Service here is abysmally slow. Multiple reviews describe waits of 20–30 minutes, even for basic drive-thru orders, with staff appearing understaffed, overworked, or indifferent. Errors are standard — missing toppings, incorrect items, and forgotten drinks are reported repeatedly. Several patrons also note mismanagement of parking bays and a lack of basic cleanliness in the dining area, revealing negligence at every level. Facebook and Yelp reviews frequently note sticky tables, unemptied trash, and floors that appear rarely cleaned, reinforcing the impression of systemic mismanagement.
The value is non-existent. I spent $28 on food barely fit for consumption, and countless other customers confirm similar experiences. The same amount of money could buy fresh, proper meals at Hannaford or a local grocery store — real food that is edible, fresh, and satisfying. This highlights how this location fails its customers in both quality and price.
Employee reviews for this location also corroborate the customer complaints: high turnover, overworked staff, and poor management practices lead directly to long waits, incorrect orders, and neglected cleaning duties. The pattern of incompetence appears built into the operation, not occasional bad luck.
This Belfast McDonald’s exemplifies corporate neglect and systemic incompetence. It is incapable of delivering consistent, edible food or even minimally competent service. From paper-thin burgers and cold fries to malfunctioning machines, forgotten items, indifferent staff, poor hygiene, and repetitive order errors, this location shows blatant contempt for the people who pay them.
Skip this location entirely. Buy fresh ingredients and prepare your own meal — you will get better food, better taste, and far more value. McDonald’s at 233 Shore Road should be ashamed to call what they serve a meal.
Also, damn those fries were fresh.
We ordered from the app everything went through but we got a weird order number. We arrived at the location parked in the curbside spot, entered it on the app, but it would not register. So we fought with it for about 5 minutes then just went inside to get it from the counter. We stood there for over 20 minutes with an employee checking in on another person just standing there completely bypassing us. We got in line and when they were able to find the order they told us “it looks like your payment is pending” I showed them the conformation both in the app and the email and confirmed with my bank that the money had already been withdrawn and was told ” Well you’ll need to order and pay again and we MIGHT be able to refund the initial charge”.
By this point we had been there for over 30 minutes and said forget it we’ll dispute the charge when we get home and left without our order.
Get it together McDonalds
