I had the absolute BEST experience at Captain Benny’s in Houston! From the moment we sat down, everything was above and beyond.
We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell, and they were incredibly fresh — cold, clean, perfectly shucked, and tasted like they came straight from the Gulf that morning. You can always tell when a restaurant takes pride in their seafood, and Captain Benny’s definitely does. Every oyster was plump, briny, and served beautifully.
Then we ordered the Mates Platter, and WOW. The portions were generous, everything was hot and crispy without being greasy, and the seafood was seasoned perfectly. The fish was flaky, the shrimp were juicy, and every bite tasted fresh and high quality. You can tell they don’t cut corners — it was true, classic Gulf Coast seafood done right.
But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, Gracie. She was hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had anywhere. She was friendly, attentive, and so knowledgeable about the menu. She checked on us at the perfect times without hovering, made sure everything came out just right, and had the sweetest personality. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests having a great experience. She made us feel welcomed and taken care of the entire time.
Great food is important, but amazing service is what brings you back — and Gracie absolutely sealed the deal. We will 100% be back and will be asking for her every time.

My first time trying this place…I was very disappointed! I had to wait 45 min for the oysters i ordered as soon as I sat down…with no communication from my waitress!!! I had to remind her again to get my drink!! I ordered their fish plate and when I finally got it …it was cold and the rice looked and tasted old!!!!
I understand sometimes you get busy but a good waitress will communicate with the customer and do not try to ignore them!

Went in on a weekday for lunch. Food came in quick; service was a bit lacking. The oysters, crawfish Etouffe, fried shrimp and catfish strips were really good. Will be back to try some of the other items on the menu.
