We have been eating here since the 1980s and the food and staff keep getting better!
Fajitas are always tender, served sizzling hot with carmelized onions, bell peppers that weren’t “mushy nor greasy” and well plated. Refried pinto beans are never dried out and are flavorful and creamy. Mexican rice was delicious and look at the guacamole in my dinner. Is that a beautiful green color or what? Tasted as great as it looked!
My white meat chicken and cheese enchiladas were covered in a chili verdes sauce I chose with sour cream. You can choose spicy or mild. Carmelita’s doesn’t skimp on the chicken in the enchiladas either!
The place is clean well lit and the staff are pleasant and knowledgeable.
Thank you for another great Mexican food meal. Eric is a great ambassador for his employer, Carmelitas.

Great casual spot with comfort food. Very reasonable prices. Staff is friendly. Ask for picante salsa if you want something with a lil kick. My go to is the beef or chicken enchiladas. We ❤️ it here.

We chose this location after the Desantis Public Adress of the Nursing Schoos funsign and Uplevel. Located close to St. Pete College, this restaurant seats many. Which is great because thr food is great. We got lucky, there were hand made tamales available ok the menu when we were there! But I ordered the soup, Mondongo – Pork Tripe and believe me, it may not sound delusional, but it is. Herbed ans prepared well. I had enough to take home ans add some chicken broth to it thr next day for lunch. So the servicing size is great for pricing. Overall good experience. Knowledgeable waiter, quickly served the food, we paid ans were out of there in less than an hour during lunch hour.

Don’t be fooled by the strip mall neon sign location, this is place will transport you to Mexico upon the opening of either entrance. Fitting music, wait staff and decor. Actual margaritas in proper glassware along with tequila, spirits or beer according to your fancy. My first visit and there is definitely a reason this is a local chain. Quality endures. Cheers amigos!

We enjoyed the food here. If you know my reviews, you know my daughters and I have been on a quest to find the best Mexican restaurant in our area.
This is definitely one of the better ones. The tamales were authentic and flavorful.
We had the cheese enchiladas, we did request the beef gravy, it was good.
The salsa was tasty with just enough spice.
The only issue we ran into was, we were treated like we were not wanted.
Like, from the hostess stand to the table. Very hostile. My kid and I are pretty low maintenance, but it really felt like we were unwelcomed.
You know what though…… we will be back, because no one is going to scare us away from some good enchiladas! 🙂

Our service was friendly and quick. The ambiance was pleasant. This restaurant seemed clean, and our booth was comfortable. The portions are large and are a good value for the money. Dinner was filling and delicious. Use caution after dark. There are transients in the area. There is a busy convenient store next door. The best part of my dinner was my company. My Gorgeous Husband is so HOTTT ❤️ that he puts the “spicy” on my tamales!

This place is unbelievable. The store on Park Street is much better. Unfortunately when we order from Uber eats this one’s the closest to our house. Every darn time they get the order wrong. Tonight they had two items missing. Complain to Uber eats and they offered us two dollars in Uber cash. I don’t know why it’s so hard for them to read the darn receipt. I even put special request in Spanish, and they still screwed up the order. I will never order from this place again very very disappointed. However, the heck is in charge of to go orders. Need to get their stuff together.

Walked in to collect my online order, to stand there to not one employee for 5 minutes so then I went to the other side of the restaurant to find someone where I stood another 2 mins while the server was talking to his table about the summer and what trips they took. Okay. I finally got his attention and said nobody has been over there. He says yes turns around and continues to talk. Okay. I walk back over and the girl came out and handed me my food. Fine, but when I get home and open my food to see the steak still runny bloody on a tortilla with no seasonings on the meat WHATSOEVER….it tastes like they boiled the steak…it’s a bunch of rubbery bloody meat with no taste in a tortilla. For $22 I threw my food out. My dog could have made that better. Never ever will I go back to any of the Carmelitas around here in Pinellas. They all suck.

Went here for lunch with my wife. Ended up needing the restroom. The mens room is decorated in “honor” of cock-fighting. Absolutely disgusting to support such a cruel activity. No one in my family will ever go here again.

The food was underwhelming, honestly nothing to get excited about. But the service? Absolutely terrible. The staff was rude, dismissive, and acted like we were a huge inconvenience just by being there. Drinks took forever, questions were met with eye rolls, and it felt like they couldn’t care less whether we enjoyed our meal. I’ve had friendlier interactions at a fast-food drive-thru. Save your time and money — go somewhere where the staff actually wants you there.
