Based on reviews we were really looking forward to a reservation here for our anniversary. Not sure if we just had an off experience or if Roy’s is overhyped. When we arrived for our reservation the host stand wasn’t super welcoming, we were told to sit outside and wait. We were sat at a table for two overlooking the golf course. The overall ambiance is just ok. It does not feel elevated, instead just bland or even dated. We didn’t necessarily expect white linen tables but there is a tasteful way to do upscale with casual island vibes. The music playlist was all over the place, Sugar Ray is not what we envisioned for a fancy date night out in Hawaii. Our server was nice but didn’t seem very knowledgeable and the flow was very off. For example he didn’t seem to realize that soy and edamame are the same thing. We were then abandoned for awhile and finally placed an order after 40 mins. Drinks were fine, nothing memorable. We started with the “canoe for two” which was not on a canoe but thrown on a plain plate. Tuna and sushi were good, but ribs were dry and spring rolls super greasy. The crab cakes looked like something mass produced for the frozen section. The salad was fine but was essentially chopped watermelon for over $20. The short rib was more like a tough pot roast. Overall the food didn’t seem that fresh, flavorful, or well presented. If one dish was off we could understand, but everything seemed lackluster. If this was a corner bar that’s fine, but when paying $70-$100 for an entree it should be a fairly impressive meal with seamless service. The restaurant did right by removing the uneaten short rib from the bill, but overall the this felt like a disappointing and underwhelming meal especially for a special occasion. We had much better experiences the rest of our trip at Aulani, Four Seasons, and even Monkeypod for happy hour.

I really wanted shellfish for lunch. This was one of the only place that caught my eye… they had paella on the menu! So I made a reservation for 145pm. Lunch ends at 2pm. I was late for my reservation because hotel check out took a bit longer than anticipated. I arrived at 158pm. The hostess informed me that I would have to sit outside and eat from the Aloha hour menu, which has no paella. But! My server was so sweet and understanding. He put in the paella order since it was only 205pm, and the kitchen honored it with no problem. The service was fantastic, the drinks were good. The paella was decent, a little on the salty side and no socrit (the nice caramelized crispy rice on the bottom), but the shrimp and lobster were cooked to perfection, and it had lots of flavor. I definitely will go back again. It is a splurge for lunch ($66 paella), but it was worth the splurge.

I think it’s safe to say that this was one of the nicest dinners we had during our visit to Oahu. We stayed at the Disney resort across the street so it was a very short walk. They also have free parking.
We had what I believe to be one of the best waiters I’ve ever had the privilege of being served by. His name was “Sinhxay” or “Sin” for short. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and a real Joy to learn from.
Let me be clear. We are not a restaurant ideal customers. We have three young children who are sometimes a little rowdy if you know what I mean. We called and made a reservation with short notice and we also wanted to check that they were a kid-friendly and although they weren’t an amusement park they accommodated the children nicely. They greeted us with a smile from the two young girls at the front counter showed us our table. Then immediately began to make sure that the kids were comfortable and that Mom and Dad were taken care of.
To start our meal off we had the Baked Brie, which is a delicious toasted baguette with honey glaze and the poached Fiji apples were delicious.
I had the ribeye that was cooked to perfection with fresh caught grilled shrimp. My wife had the Crab and Bristol scallops and stuff colossal shrimp. She loved them.
My son who is nine had the children’s salmon. My daughters who are six and two split the children’s pasta and they also had some quesadilla with fruit.
For dessert we enjoyed The chocolate souffle and let me tell you you better be ready to fight everyone at your table for the last bite.
The food was amazing. The atmosphere was perfect and the service was phenomenal. Honestly, when I think about returning to Hawaii, I want to make sure no matter where I stay and I’m close enough to visit Roy’s again. To our server Sin, you honor our family and your assistant Hezekiah did a wonderful job also.

This place should definitely be a 5 star, not less. The food was amazing, I was served pretty quickly and landed on happy hour. I ordered a variety of sashimi (salmon, tuna, hamachi), served beautifully with radish, cucumbers and Hawaiian seaweed. The edamame sticks were amazing! The best of all! And octopus rolls, were good, with pieces of octopus inside! Do their famous pineapple martini . Very refined taste, perfect blend. And desserts are just beyond your expectations! The pineapple upside down cake and chocolate soufflé (lava cake) were top notch! The lava was actually coming out of it very mesmerizing. Well, just the food, and the service was amazing, I was very well taken care of, always had my glass of water topped and plates cleared right away. Not even mentioning the personal and professional approach of my server, Jesse. He helped me pick the best dishes to my liking and I loved everything he suggested. Will definitely be back here again!

Food was ok but not as good as expected for the prices!
Strawberry and watermelon feta was not that good, the Brussel sprouts were good but a large size and very heavy.
Macnut crusted island fish again a heavy dish.
I think there are other great food options on the island but it’s a great “higher-end” restaurant with decent food.

Roy’s was an experience in a beautiful setting. All our food and drinks were amazing including the desserts. Our server, Quinn, was so pleasant and fun to get to know while we dined. Expensive but very worth it. Go!

Highly recommend reservations. I would also recommend the kitchen is a little slow to come out but you will not be disappointed in flavor, taste, design, or portion size. The sushi was and the drinks were also tasty. I loved their edemane appetizer and Brie with apples were delicious
With tip we payed over $200 for 2 ( we had an app, 2 drinks , 2 entrees )

We’ve been to Roy’s at Ko Olina many times and plan to keep going back! The food is always outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff are consistently friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between lively and relaxed. It’s one of our favorite places to dine in Hawaii, every single time.

We had such a wonderful experience at Roy’s Ko’Olina. The food was absolutely amazing — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made the evening feel special.
They also have great keiki menu options, which made it perfect for our little one. It’s a fantastic spot to enjoy with family, and we highly recommend it for anyone visiting Ko’Olina!

As the saying goes, you normally get what you pay for. The prices at Roy’s may turn off some, but what you get with the price is an amazing dining experience with high quality and delicious meals and friendly service in a wonderful atmosphere. Reservations are recommended. We were promptly seated up on arrival as we had family who were local to the area set up reservations. Our server, Lisa, was amazing and since some of my family was dining at a Roy’s for the first time, she explained the items on the menu thoroughly and gave wonderful recommendations. We took her recommendation for the appetizer sampler (The Canoe for Two). The hand made chicken spring rolls were amazing, and the blackened ahi seemed to melt in our mouths. The fish and chips ordered by some of our family was delicious and the fish was very flaky and flavorful. My kids shared a 16 oz ribeye, and even though they ordered it medium well (don’t judge), the steak was still juicy and very tender despite being prepared medium well. I had the prime rib sandwich based on Lisa’s recommendation, and I would highly recommend this dish (make sure you show up hungry). To end the meal, I highly recommend the chocolate souffle. I would come back just on this dessert alone! What was a very nice touch was that, since it was some of my family’s first time to the island, they added in some extras such as an ice cream sandwich and an extra chocolate dessert at no cost!
All that said, again, the price point may be a turn off for some, but if you want to do a little fine dining in an absolutely beautiful location, you can’t go wrong with Roy’s at Ko Olina!
