I was craving a big, satisfying burger, and a friend recommended this Hawaiian burger spot. I went for the Hawaiian burger with a fried egg on top, and let me tell you—it was a life-changing experience.
As a South Korean living in the U.S., I’ve been searching for a burger that captures the taste of the legendary Bulgogi Burger from Lotteria in Korea. I could never quite find that flavor—until now. This place serves a premium version of that nostalgic taste, and I couldn’t be happier!
I’m not sure why the Yelp rating isn’t higher, but for me, this place is a solid 10/10. I’ll definitely be back, and I’m already recommending it to my friends!

This place makes the best burgers, and because of that very often there is a line to get in. We went for a dinner on Friday and had to wait around 25-30 min to be seated, but let me tell you! The wait is totally worth it!

Very disappointed for the way we wear treated by manager Anthony i do not know how he is the manager there.
We were treated terribly, Gm was going to look in to the matter and get back to us never did so garage and Maxy the GM’ also.let us down.

This is a great Islands, located on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks. They serve great burgers and a menu highlight is their cheddar fries. This is also a great place to grab a beer or two since they have a decent bar and booze selection.

I went with three other people on Friday at noon and got seated right away. Our server came and introduced herself and was very friendly. The nachos, I would not order again due to the cheese that they use. It gets hard quick and does not have any flavor. The Tortilla soup was good. I am happy that I got a bowl. What disappointed me was the mai tai in the flight because you can tell how they used cheap alcohol right away. The other drinks from the flight were good. I personally would recommend the shipwrecker. Our server came by twice to check up on us, which I didn’t mind because I hate when servers come to check up on you every 5 minutes or so. She was friendly with my son and with his birthday coming up, she made sure to get him an ice cream brownie, which made him very happy.

I’ve been to Islands and usually enjoy the food and casual vibe, but the experience at the Sherman Oaks location this time was extremely disappointing due to how we were treated.
I stood waiting to be helped for several minutes. The host made eye contact with me, then looked past me and asked the man behind me how many were in his party, completely skipping over me. I had to speak up and say, “Excuse me, I’ve been standing here and haven’t been helped yet.”
Even after that, when it was time to seat the next party, the same host tried to call the family who arrived after us. I had to stop him again and ask why they were being seated first. Another employee then asked if we were first, and I said yes — and the original host said nothing in response. No apology, no acknowledgment.
Being ignored and then repeatedly skipped is not a great way to start any dining experience, and it honestly made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Front-of-house is the first impression of a restaurant, and this felt like a serious lapse in basic customer service and awareness.
I hope management reviews how guests are being treated.

I ordered the Hawaiian burger with added bacon. The burger looked super delicious, unfortunately the taste was not as good. It was not bad but not great either. We also ordered some buffalo wings, those were pretty good. Others in my table ordered the chicken sandwich called shorebird. Again it looked delicious but was not. It was just alright.

I haven’t been to Islands for maybe 15 years and the quality of the food has gone down hill. The fries were cooked in old oil. The burger was mushy and the blue cheese was flavorless. Of course we didn’t want to say anything but I did tell the waitress that the oil needed to be changed. Service was mediocre but she was pleasant. Nice hostess greeted us with a smile. Unfortunately, will not go back.

Ordered the nachos, with spicy chicken. The plate looked great upon arrival, however it was a bit underwhelming. The chicken seemed to be an afterthought, the was a small amount of sour cream and entirely way too much guacamole. The black beans were a pleasant surprise however. My server was nice, and checked on me often, but this review is about the food only. It was average, nothing spectacular or horrible for that matter. Perhaps I’ll return in the future to try an entree, and will be able to update with a better rating.
