Social Profile:

Bourgeois Pig is an independent, family owned cafe in the heart of Lincoln Park, operated continuously by the same owner, Mason Green, since May of 1993! Situated within 2 adjoining, red brick, row houses built in the 1890’s, The Pig is a very period and special place indeed: antiques, wood floors, tin ceilings, oriental rugs, crystal chandeliers, slate chalkboard menus & the kind of ambiance & service you just can’t get from a chain store. Our menu is literary themed, with most of our sandwiches & salads named after novels & plays. Our food is fresh, generous, homemade & unique. Having started as a coffeehouse, we also serve a vast array of loose leaf teas steeped to order, as well as a myriad of traditional coffee & espresso based drinks!

Inventive sandwiches (many with literary names), breakfast items & tea in an old row house setting.

It’s cozy with fireplace, old photos, and books. I enjoy sitting on the first floor tables and vibes where I would have a good panini and Julius Meinl coffee. Staffs are super friendly and love what they do. They be able to make an off menu for “old man and the sea” with panini. It’s fresh and perfect.

A truly inspiring place, beyond their delicious food. If you enjoy laptop cafe remote work, this place will take your experience to another level.

PROS: great food, delicious sandwiches and beverages. Staff is very professional and welcoming. Unique indoor vintage atmosphere and gorgeous/quiet garden seating available.

CONS: It’s hard to think of anything really. Parking is a bit complicated, which enhances the quietness and relaxing atmosphere.

This is a delightful cafe that feels like you’re stepping into another time and place. The dark wood, leather, old books and portraits create a unique experience. This is a place I want to bring my books, my journal, and just get lost in my work. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was fabulous. Full of flavor, chorizo, avocado, sour cream. It was hearty and I will be satisfied for hours. I’m not from Lincoln Park, so maybe this kind of place is common around here, but for me it was an absolute delight.

There’s something magical about stepping into Bourgeois Pig Cafe—like stumbling into an old storybook where every corner is filled with charm and history. Tucked away in what was once a Lincoln Park apartment, this café has transformed into a cozy, vintage hideaway with warm lighting, mismatched furniture, and the kind of character that makes you want to settle in with a good book and stay for hours. It was packed when I arrived, buzzing with conversations and the comforting hum of an espresso machine, yet somehow it still felt intimate, like a well-kept secret.

I ordered The Old Man & The Sea, and let me tell you, this was no ordinary tuna sandwich. It arrived stacked between two thick slices of house-made multigrain bread, its golden crust speckled with seeds, offering the perfect balance of softness and structure. The first bite was a revelation, the World Famous Tuna Dill Salad was creamy yet airy, with fresh dill adding a bright, herbaceous lift. The celery brought a subtle crunch, while a whisper of red onion gave just enough sharpness to keep things interesting. The ripe tomato slices added a juicy sweetness, and the crisp romaine lettuce gave a refreshing contrast, preventing the sandwich from feeling too heavy.

But the real standout? That multigrain bread. Slightly nutty, with a gentle chew and a toasted edge that gave just the right amount of resistance, it elevated the sandwich from simple to spectacular. Every ingredient worked in harmony, making each bite more satisfying than the last.

Bourgeois Pig Cafe isn’t just a place to grab a bite, it’s a place to experience food in a way that feels nostalgic and comforting, yet refined. I already know I’ll be coming back, not just for the food, but for that feeling of finding something special, hidden in plain sight.

I absolutely adore the charming ambiance at Bourgeois Pig Cafe! Stepping inside feels like a delightful journey to old European cafes with its cozy atmosphere. The coffee selection is fantastic, and the food options are equally impressive. However, I must admit, my experience with the lemon cake fell short of expectations. Despite this minor setback, I’ll definitely be returning for the wonderful atmosphere and delicious coffee.

Love this adorable coffee shop. It’s got a Victorian home vibe and the interior is decorated with Oriental rugs, bookshelves filled with books, couches, comfortable tables and vintage furniture.

I haven’t visited this cafe in years and everything looks the same. There are tons of coffee ☕️ and tea choices as well as pie waffles breakfast panini and granola etc.

It’s definitely a romantic vibe and a speakeasy is located here too. Just got an extremely decadent lemon merengue pie and hot chocolate. The staff here is extremely friendly and very welcoming. In my opinion this is THE BEST coffee ☕️ shop in Lincoln Park and very accessible the Fullerton train stop.

Every time I come here, it feels like traveling back in time. Looking at the books on the shelves, I can’t help but wonder who might have read them back in the day. The ambiance is incredible—so unique and original. The coffee is delicious, and the Italian panini might just be my favorite. Also, the blueberry muffin is absolutely perfect for me!

Great coffee shop with fantastic vibes. Lots of seating options and table choices. Huge food menu – I had the breakfast panini and it was delicious!! Huge portion and great tasting. The coffee was not very good and it tasted burnt, I had the iced coffee with almond milk. I’ll try a latte next time
