⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Sidney Classic That Never Disappoints!

If you’re looking for a taste of history served with a side of hometown charm, The Spot Restaurant – Sidney, OH is an absolute must-visit.

You can really feel the legacy of this place, which has been around since Spot Miller first parked his chuckwagon here back in 1907!

The Food
I went for the Big Buy with cheese, and it was exactly what a classic burger should be—juicy, flavorful, and hit the spot perfectly. I paired it with their onion rings, which were golden, crispy, and easily some of the best I’ve had in a long time.

Next time, I’m definitely going to try the Presidential Bush Burger!

The Famous Pies
You cannot leave this place without trying the pie. I was lucky enough to sample a few varieties:
* Apple & Cherry: Perfectly flaky crusts with that “just like grandma made” fruit filling.

* Fresh Strawberry: A seasonal favorite that is bright and delicious.

it’s clear why people travel for these.

The Vibe
The Art Moderne architecture and that iconic mid-century neon sign make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s clean, nostalgic, and the service is incredibly welcoming. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Ohio, do yourself a flavor and stop in!

I placed an order for pick up, the girl who took my order had trouble getting my order straight. When I asked how long it would be, I was put on hold for a few minutes before she came back and told me. I thought maybe she was just new so I let that go. I went to get my order after 20 min and waited for over 30 min. I pushed the speaker button again and asked about my order she said they were just making it. I saw oe of the car hops go back in with an order like she was frustrated so figured they were having some sort of problem. Since they said they were just making my food , I thought well at least it will be fresh. I got home and had the wrong kind of salad dressing, greasy cold onion rings and the big buy was two small thin squares of burnt meat. I have never not been able to not eat a big buy but this was not edible. I did get 10% of for my wait but it did.not compensate for this awful meal.

Wanted to update. The owner returned my money for this meal and even brought it to my house so that brings my rating back up since he made it right with me.

Classic burger and fries with a few other options on the menu and their famous homemade pies. A part of your childhood that still remains today! Always a pleasure.

Was really disappointed in how this place has gone downhill. The service was not great and the people were not friendly at all. When I asked for a recommendation of a pie, the girl seemed annoyed, made a suggestion, then said, “But I don’t know, I have never had it”. The only person that was helpful and friendly was the gentleman who was clearing the tables.

The food was mediocre compared to the last time I was there. The pecan pie was difficult to muster through. It was dry and tasted old (imagine freezer burnt AND freeze dried at the same time). The cherry pie was edible but nothing to write home about.

My family grew up in Sydney and always ate at The Spot. We came back here for a funeral. They were even disappointed in the quality of the food and service. My mother even stated it was, “eerily empty for a Saturday lunch time. Normally, you cannot get a seat during this time.”

I don’t hardly give any bad reviews for restaurants because I own one. With that being said we were excited to visit the spot as we always do when we are in the area for the holidays. We came around 230pm and was greeted with rolled eyes from from the front service lady. Then followed with her saying I was about to go on break but now I can’t because we came in to eat. Honestly if my front of house said that to a customer , they would be walking out the door. The food was ok, and of course no strawberry pie. I was really disappointed on this visit enough to leave a review. When your employees set the tone for the rest of the visit, it can make for a great experience or a bad one.

This is the “least good” of the historic burger places I’ve been to in Western Ohio (Kewpee, Hamburger Wagon, Crabill’s, etc.) There is a charm to these other restaurants but The Spot just felt run down. The Big Buy burger had tiny patties on it and the buns were stale, but the flavor profile was good. The service wasn’t overly friendly. That being said, the fries were some of the best I’ve had… they had a light batter on them and were hot and fresh. I won’t go out of my way to come back here again.

What can you dislike about this place. A 50’s inspired diner with excellent food and even better service. The good was great. The older lady who took our order was very nice and recommended us trying the Big Buy! The atmosphere was superb! Recommend stopping in here if you are in the area!

I went to this restaurant recently and wanted to share my experience. The food was delicious, and I would go back just for the food. However, I was disappointed with the service. When my group and I approached the counter, the two women working there seemed uninterested in helping us and had a bad attitude. They weren’t accommodating when we asked about the menu. One of the women at the register was particularly rude to my grandmother, and I also didn’t receive good service when I tried to place my order and ask questions about the menu. The atmosphere at the restaurant was just okay, and it felt like we were being watched as soon as we walked in. However, I did notice one exceptional employee responsible for cleaning the dining area. He was very kind and respectful, and I think he deserves to be recognized as the best employee there.

Despite the poor service, I enjoyed the food. I had the combo number two with fries and a Coke Zero, and I also tried a chocolate and vanilla malt, which was very refreshing. I would consider returning to this restaurant for the food, but I would probably only do takeout due to the disappointing service. I hope the restaurant can improve their employees’ attitudes because good service is as essential as good food. Additionally, I noticed a sign in the back of the restaurant that said “The Funhouse,” but the employees there didn’t seem very happy and looked ready to finish their shifts and leave.

The Spot has always been one of my favorite places to eat. I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl eating my fav onion rings. I also worked here when I was 14 making the onion rings in the lower floor. I like that it’s located downtown where you can sit on one of the stool seats and watch the traffic or the people just walking by enjoying their day. I love the decor and the jukebox that’s inside. I also like how you can see your food being made and that it’s made right there when you order it. The Spot is known for their pies. And let’s not forget the chili and tenderloin. They also have carryout parking located in the back of the restaurant where you can enjoy your meal right there in your car. That’s a convenience I like in case my hair isn’t done and don’t wanna go inside lol The Spot has been here for years and it’s definitely a place you should try if you have never been here. Children love it also and let’s not forget President Bush that’s visited here also.
