Pretty great Japanese food. I sort of wish the szechuan ramen was a bit spicier, but it was still tasty. The curry and chicken cutlet were so well done. Nice, crispy, and flakey. Their menu is also huge, would definetly come back again to try more thinga.

I went to Rakuya for happy hour, and it was honestly one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in DC. Everything was so fresh and beautifully prepared — the salmon roe nigiri and red sea bream nigiri were absolute standouts, but I also loved the Seoul Train roll, branzini, and a few other nigiri pieces I tried.
The Very Berry cocktail was perfectly balanced — fruity, refreshing, and such a great complement to the sushi. Between the quality, the presentation, and the value for happy hour, Rakuya easily earned a spot on my list of favorites. I’ll definitely be back soon!

I have been a loyal Rakuya customer for 5 years now. I am never disappointed with the sushi because the fish is always fresh. The service is stellar and it is an awesome spot for a date night! They also have an amazing happy hour and a nice patio setup during the summertime. Check out their lunch specials!

Nothing stood out to me here. The miso ramen was bland, chasu too oily, chicken karaage was fine but the aioli sauce is too mayo-y rather than light to try to take away some of the heaviness from it being deep fried, and maki were only slightly above grocery store standards..

Great food, great service, great people watching. If it’s nice, get outdoor seating and enjoy your cocktails/food while people watching.
The 4 of us got the deluxe bento to share with 3 rolls, 2 appetizers and drinks. The bento box has a lot of food and it was delicious but my favorite was the pork belly appetizer and the rolls (black snake, white tiger, and double salmon).
Highly recommended.

Amazing food, cozy atmosphere, awesome service !!! The sodas can get watery but again, you’re here for the food, not the soda. They don’t take Discover cards and that would have been great to know before we paid, but other than that, an amazing experience, thank you to the entire team!

It was one of the worst summer rolls I had in my life
The chicken Karaage was also not upto standard

I had an incredible dining experience at Rakuya. We started with the fried calamari as an appetizer, perfectly tender, seasoned just right, and a great way to kick things off. The service was attentive and friendly, and with such lovely weather, we began our meal outside. As the evening cooled down, the staff seamlessly helped us move indoors, which kept the experience comfortable and relaxed.
For the main course, we shared a delicious spread of rolls. The Green Monster with shrimp was fresh and flavorful, while the Crunchy Scallop was absolutely to die for, crispy, rich, and bursting with umami. The Octopus Nigiri added a nice contrast in texture, and the Flying Smoked Dragon roll was melt-in-your-mouth tender.
Everything from the ambiance to the food was top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend!
