After hearing good things about Drake’s in Grove, Oklahoma, I decided to stop by this morning to try their breakfast buffet. At $12.99, the buffet offers a variety of items like scrambled eggs, French toast, and grits. Overall, I’d say it was decent—neither great nor bad. The service was good, the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I’m interested in returning to try their lunch menu or the Friday night catfish buffet. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out!

Its okay. Very very old feeling, nothing like sitting on plastic covered furniture. Weekend Breakfast buffet is okayish, ran out of food several times and we had to wait. Came for dinner for the first time, it was okay. Nothing special. Chicken dinner has 3 sides included for $8.00, sandwich no side for the same price?? So i had to pay an extra two dollars for half an order of fries. Pretty bland food also, almost tasteless. Green beans weren’t very warm and tasted like rubber, the cheese on the chicken wasn’t even melted. I had to pour salt on my unseasoned philly and use ketchup. Breakfast menu items are still great tho. Had amazing service but there were only two tables in the entire place.

The service was absolutely awesome. I regret that i did not get the name of her waitress, but she was a tiny lady with roots from Asia and she could not have been more kind or more attentive. Another nice touch was that any other waitress who passed by would also ask if we needed a refill, etc. I had a simple breakfast of a 3 meat omelette and wheat toast so not much to judge on. The toast was awesome and had been meticulously prepared with perfect toasting and butter generously applied. The omelette was just your average road side omelette, i prefer mine to be more filled with gooey cheese; but hey an omelette is an omelette! The service very much made it worth the stop! A fun lil spot!

Id been wanting to stop and check this spot out for a year. Finally stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Greeted promptly, I found a seat. Service was quick. The server took my order and returned with a drink within a few minutes. Sweet Tea, which was soured. No big deal, swapped out for a coke. Next my food arrived. It was their Baked Turkey, and dressing with mashed potatoes and gravy. Whoa the portions were massive.
Unfortunately it was almost inedible. Maybe I got there too late (1:45pm ish) idk but the Turkey was shredded and extremely dry. The dressing was burned on the bottom and then just mixed with the shredded turkey and smothered in gravy, to hide the dryness would be my guess? This burnt and crusty bottom, mixed in with the over salted food was terrible. I actually thought id bitten into a bone several times to find it was burnt pieces of stuffing. Not to mention there was turkey bones i was not aware of in my food. Chomping down on a few of those was unpleasant and unexoected as well. Sheesh! If that would have been one of my kids, it would have been a different story. The mashed potatoes were literally a tan color? Plain green beans out of can and I think warmed in the microwave, yuk. The apple sauce was about the only thing I could do and that wained quickly. At least it was cold. I also ordered just a beef patty for my pup. It was cheap ($2.00) but looked like a patty out of a card board box. Ultra thin and did not smell very fresh. A Cafe that cant make a standard beef patty?
Originally I was going to order a country fried steak meal, but when I asked if they were fresh or frozen she relied “they’re frozen but we hand bread them” wait what? I chose the Turkey…like voting it seemed the lesser of two evils.
The service somewhat matched the food. Not great. She, came to the table 3 times in total. I was there less then 30 minutes overall. The server did not ask how the food was, did not notice the half a wish bone id placed on top of a sides cup, or the fact I pushed the plate away with 75% of the food left. So meh on the service. At the end she asked if id like a to go cup. My drink was half empty. She didnt offer a refill or to even fill the to go cup. The facility seemed somewhat clean and maintained. I did not use their restroom so I cant speak of its condition but overall the Cafe gives off the typical Cafe ambiance. Old slightly dingy, hole in the wall vibes. Usually these places are hidden gems. Maybe these guys just had an off day idk. Evetually ill try it again but it’ll be a while. Not sure if I understand the 4 star rating? Maybe their breakfast is better, Lord I hope.
Overall it was a very disappointing experience. I always give a place two shots. Everyone has bad days, lets hope thats the case here.

The best and freshest food Drake’s had was their salad. Other than that their vegetables were canned. I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was very soggy and incredibly tough. I’m pretty sure it was overcooked beef instead of chicken. Very friendly service but not friendly food.

Drakes restaurant has been the best food I have had since visiting Grove Oklahoma. The staff was very accommodating to my family especially for my mother being in a wheelchair. My mom and I were very impressed with there homemade food. I had their lemon meringue pie and it is the best pie I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone 5 star food and service.

This was our first time to Drake’s we just picked it out of the Hat really glad we did shut up on a Friday evening to the catfish buffet bar also with a salad bar Play Catfish was amazing the breading was unlike any catfish spreading I’ve had that’ll make it extra tasty the fish was flaky and juicy and white hush puppies brown beans coleslaw and desserts. Just good down home cooking so if you’re near Drake’s stop on in and have a home cooked meal that you won’t regret.
