Got dinner on New Year’s Day in a party of 9 around 6. Place was fairly empty and started to fill as the evening went on. Cozy vibe. Food was pretty good! I got the 1667 burger with curly fries, which was tasty with the onion bun and reasonably priced. I got a sort of cranberry Shirley temple on the menus. I sent it back for extra grenadine as it was mostly cranberry juice and soda. I wished the food had come hot and not lukewarm. We were all really hungry so didn’t complain. I could see it getting cold if you don’t have proper warmers in the kitchen to bring everything to the table at one time. The staff were a bit disorganized, but our server was nice and attentive.

Read reviews before judging the 4.4 starts. The food is excellent, eclectic menu with simple creativity which makes for solid dishes every time. Service is straightforward and efficient. Building is classic Cambridge/Boston bar/lounge/restaurant design. Don’t overthink it.

Lively Spot in North Cambridge with Solid Food, but a Few Hiccups
(Really 3.5 stars, but rounding up)
We recently had dinner at Cambridge Common on a hot summer evening, and while the food was solid, the service had some issues.
Booking was easy—we used RESY, and the host who answered the phone was polite, helpful, and welcoming. The restaurant offers outdoor seating, which is a great option on a nice day, though we sat inside.
We ordered the Buffalo Mac & Cheese, Carnitas Tacos, and a Fried Fish Sandwich (swapped with sweet potato fries), plus a Brownie Sundae for dessert. Everything was tasty and satisfying, especially the fries with chipotle aioli.
That said, a few things detracted from the experience:
• It was hot, and we felt a bit overlooked—we both needed refills on our drinks, and no one checked in for quite a while.
• There was a screaming baby nearby. Not the restaurant’s fault, but it made for a less relaxing atmosphere.
• The most frustrating part: one of us left a credit card at the table, and while we were away, the staff added a 22% gratuity without consulting us. We hadn’t signed or closed out yet, which felt presumptive. The receipt listed Alana Y as our server, but several staff members rotated through.
• Also good to know: they calculate tip on top of tax, so if you’re aiming for 20% on the pre-tax amount, tipping 18% on the full bill gets you there.
Service was disorganized. The food was enjoyable, and the atmosphere is lively and casual—but this isn’t the place for a peaceful dinner.
We’d give it 3.5 stars if we could, but rounded up to 4 for the solid food, good vibes, and easy reservation process.

My friend and I went to Cambridge Common the other night for a quick dinner and we weren’t disappointed. We didn’t have to wait for a table and were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and efficient and our food came out very quickly! We ordered the fried pickles, the 1667 burger, and the BLT and we enjoyed all of them. You also can’t beat the prices, they’re lower compared to other restaurants in the area. The only issue people may have is parking but we parked on a side street on a Sunday so you don’t need a parking permit, so that was easy for us. Will definitely return!

Cambridge Common is a vegetarian friendly, classic restaurant/bar with good food at a fair price, a big beer menu and a great staff. I used to go here twice a week 2008-2012 and they’ve still got the magic. A classic spot I can take my picky parents to or meet a bunch of friends

Re: Dec. 31 2025- Early dinner. I have been going here off and on for years when I used to work nearby. The last time about a year ago+ my servers (over a few visits) were rather unfriendly and so I stopped going. I appreciate that it is challenging to hire great help in this industry. So happy to say I had a delicious meal last night when I was back in the area, and everything was wonderful and just as I requested, and my wait person, Alexandria (?)? was top notch! I walked up to the very friendly bartender (young man), to thank him for the outstanding Moscow Mule, mixed perfectly. A truly enjoyable experience all around! Thank you Cambridge Common! I will be back and I highly recommend!

A very quiet Tuesday lunch, indoors. The booth table had a few crumbs on it and was sticky. And I was the first customer at it.
The waitress was correct in recommending the fish and chips. The breading was good and the fish filled it. The portion was very good and the price reasonable. But
1. Everything lacked flavor. Slaw was bland, said breading could have had salt and spice
2. The fries, as indicated, were thin. I’m OK with no salt on these, but the ones on top were fine but the rest got cold fast and became soggy from the slaw.
I’d go back and order it again but either replace them or ask for fries on the side. Keep the salt n pepper nearby.

Ate on the patio, had a nice lunch enjoying these final days of summer. Sat quickly and food came out just as fast. Beer was cold and refreshing. I would definitely eat here again.
