We went in on a busy Friday evening was told it was a 20 min. We were willing to wait then it turned into an hour. We figured any where we went would be busy so stayed. We got a free appetizer for waiting so long. Other than the wait, staff was friendly and food was delicious. Brussel sprouts is a must try!

Ok. I’m not a foodie. BUT, wow! The brussel sprouts appetizer was absolutely delicious. Perfect balance of sweet and salty with savory and the texture was crunchy. The scratch burger, BBQ chicken pizza, and braised short ribs were amazing! I paired the Brussels sprouts with the braised short ribs and it was so good I closed my eyes and almost passed out from how amazing it was. Service and atmosphere also chill and respectful. O yes, the dessert, Apple chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream also delicious. My wife and I will be back!!

Such a wonderful place by the Gallivan Plaza! I was immediately blown away by the interior which had a gorgeous design and wasn’t loud at all. Our waiter came and seated us promptly and was very patient as we discussed for a while what we wanted. We ordered the steak brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries to share which she split for us to do so. We also ordered the prosciutto pesto pizza which was delicious! The food and environment were so great that we ended up staying over an hour just enjoying it, would definitely recommend to anyone!

Really enjoyed the food here! All the food that my party ordered looked and tasted great. Love the interior, the half open kitchen, and the “from scratch” vibe. The service was great, and we came at a time that wasn’t busy at all. Perfect place to come for relaxed, sit-down experience if you’re downtown. Great for business/client lunches.

This was our second visit to From Scratch, and once again it did not disappoint! We travel from Pennsylvania to Salt Lake several times a year, and this spot has become a must-visit for us. It’s truly a hidden gem, tucked just off the main drag in a back alley near the Salt Palace, with other fun spots around it.
What makes this place stand out is that they really do live up to their name—everything here is made from scratch. Their sourdough bread is baked fresh daily, their fries are made to order, and even their sauces, jams, pastas, pizzas, and pastrami are crafted in-house. You can taste the difference in the freshness and quality of every dish.
On this visit we enjoyed the soup, sourdough bread boards, burgers with sweet potato fries, and beet salad with grilled chicken. Everything was bursting with flavor and so thoughtfully prepared.
A special shoutout to Chelsea, the manager who also served our table. She was absolutely amazing—so friendly and attentive—and even recommended a great local coffee shop for us to check out after lunch, which was super helpful since we’re visiting from Pennsylvania.
The atmosphere is relaxed but stylish, and the service makes you feel like a regular. From Scratch is the kind of restaurant that feels local and authentic while delivering high-quality food you’ll remember long after you leave.
Highly recommend—we’ll definitely be back again on our next trip to Salt Lake City!

I have to say I was disappointed. The reviews were quite good, in my experience it wasn’t so good. Every restaurant has an off day and maybe I found theirs. First of all there is zero ambience, I wouldn’t take anybody here you were trying to impress. The prices were OK. Everything I ordered except my nonalcoholic beer would’ve been enough for two people. I ordered brussels sprouts and a margarita pizza. Brussels sprouts should’ve been good. They were not overcooked, but were covered with a balsamic reduction and soaked. Sadly, the balsamic reduction must’ve been poured over brussels sprouts after the crispy onions. The crispy onions weren’t crispy. They were soggy, sad. The margarita pizza was decent, quite large but in my opinion undercooked. The crust while thin was floppy. I prefer a crust that’s cooked more but, that’s my preference and perhaps others like their’s softer. I suspect that I asked I would’ve gotten a more cooked pizza, so I can’t totally blame Scratch.

We stopped at From Scratch in Salt Lake City on a whim after our other plans fell through, and I’m so glad we did! The atmosphere is warm and cozy — the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients that you can really taste in every bite. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend making a reservation — it’s a popular spot for good reason. From Scratch definitely turned our change of plans into a perfect evening!

My boyfriend picked out this restaurant for us to check out and it was a hit! Tomato bisque was perfect for a chilly night. Burger was tasty, brisket sandwich was so fresh and delicious! Service was perfect. We loved sitting at the bar by the fire pizza oven. Would definitely visit again!

We were a group of 8 for lunch. Great food! We ordered a Blackened Salmon Salad, Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, and the soup of the day which was a White clam chowder that came with a slice of the house-made wood fired sour dough bread. Other members of my party ordered a pizza, salad, sandwich, and a burger but I do not know exactly what they ordered. Most sandwiches come with the house-made wood fired sour dough which is delicious! At the peak of the lunch hour, the noise inside the restaurant was deafening. But the food is excellent so I highly recommend a visit.

This was our first time here. We got their sourdough, brussel sprouts, apple crisp salad and 3 meat pizza. HOLY cow! All the dishes were insane. Such good flavor. Great portion sizes. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Quick service for this being a dine in restaurant. Can’t wait to come back.
