This place was surprisingly good and a great bang for your buck. The Chicken Butts where my favorite, highly recommend! Steak was super flavorful, mashed potatoes where actually real, the French Dip was delicious. The service was amazing! She was super attentive and checked on us regularly. Love the atmosphere, took me back in time. Still has a salad bar and it was great too! Was so good we had to come back our second night in town.

Pro Tip: Just try and leave room for dessert
I had the combo plate and the wife had the bacon wrapped filet mignon. Both were good. Combo had big portions, and a large baked potato with all the trimmings. Want able to finish it
Our waitress (Lexi) was an attentive, enthusiastic, pretty lil lady who checked on us repeatedly. Quick with refills and checking in.

Decided to drop in for dinner. Staff was great, not terribly busy on a Saturday at 4pm. Food was good! My wife had the Filet mignon and it was super tasty. My French Dip had a good portion of meet on it. Full bar if you need it.

There was only one server on Sunday afternoon, and it was a little busy, but he did a good job.
I had the surf and turf. I added the shrimp but probably should have just got that as the surf part instead of the crab cake. It was okay but not phenomenal.
Fillet was good. Salad bar was nice and fresh. I didn’t care for the mashed potatoes.
I will go back when I’m traveling through town. I want to try their chicken fried steak.
The absolute worst part of this family style restaurant is that there is no lock on the men’s bathroom door. I also noticed that there is not a stall door for the bathroom stall. So, no privacy whatsoever.

We were traveling through LA Junta and asked our Hotel owner for recommendations of locally owned restaurants for supper and this was one of 2 they recommended. The atmosphere was saloon like. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was OUTSTANDING! I like my rib eye steak medium rare and it’s usually served medium. This came exactly as ordered with outstanding flavor! My spouse ordered chicken fried steak and loved it!

Great small town country food, Western atmosphere, good friendly small town, some of the best cut ur own fries in Colorado. Good soup and salad bar. People from the city would call it a throwback from a bygone era. People from here just call it good local country food large portions great sandwiches, burgers, and steaks! Fries are made from cut in house Colorado potatoes n they’re very good. Some old fashioned good waitresses too. Especially during day. The younger ones in the evening aren’t bad either. Pretty fast except when super packed n busy.

I ordered a medium sirloin and what showed up on my plate was an absolute crime against beef. This thing was cooked so far past done it could’ve doubled as a paperweight. Rock-hard, dry, and chewy like I was gnawing on a tire. Medium? Not even close.
On top of that, there was a random strip of bacon tossed on the plate that was completely blackened, like it had been dragged through a fireplace. Not crispy. Not charred. Just straight-up burnt charcoal. If this was intentional, that’s wild.
And let’s talk about the “sirloin” itself — because whatever those chunks were, they did not resemble steak. The meat came out in sad little lumps that honestly looked more like dog droppings than anything you’d serve to a paying customer. Uneven cuts, zero presentation, and no flavor to save it.
If you don’t know how to cook a steak to temperature, don’t offer steak. This was disappointing, embarrassing, and a complete waste of money. I wouldn’t feed this to my worst enemy, let alone order it again.
Hard pass. Never again.

The wife and I stopped here leaving town from a business trip. We really wanted to enjoy this place and got a good recommendation, but unfortunately just couldn’t meet our standards. The wife had issues with her steak and they admitted that they burnt our appetizer so we didn’t get our appetizer until midway through our dinner. They were very nice about things and gave us a five dollar discount on a $85 dinner check and my wife didn’t get to eat her steak but they did let us take it home so we can feed into our pig George thanks for giving us a $70 dinner for our pig. I wish I could say the customer service was good but the gentleman we had was more of what do you want to drink and eat so I can go back to doing whatever the hell it is. I was doing before you got here. The lady we had at the end. I wish we had through the entire experience because she was awesome

Getting a bit pricey these days. Food is really good, but really messy on the plate lately. This time with gravy in salad and vegetable water/juices were all over the plate making soggy breading on chicken fried steak. Staff is very nice and prompt even though very busy.

Rocky Mountain Oysters were cooked perfectly, but the breaded mushrooms were literally burnt. Nice quiet atmosphere, especially since there was only one other patron in the restaurant. The waitress NEVER ONCE refilled my iced tea because she ONLY came to our table to take our order and to drop off our order. She stayed behind the bar and NEVER ONCE even looked our direction. The customer service provider industry has gone down the tubes in the Arkansas Valley. This use to be my favorite restaurant. Still love their “Snake Eggs.”
