Flaco’s is an absolute gem that delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The food is nothing short of exceptional—every dish is bursting with authentic flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The tacos are perfectly seasoned, the burritos are generous and packed with goodness, and the house-made salsa adds the perfect kick.

The chicken and plantains arepas was hot, fresh and full of flavor (see photo). The meat in my companion’s beef bowl was overcooked and a bit dry with minimal tomatoes. The server seemed unaware and/or a bit confused when we asked about the beers they served there. Overall worth a try, the beef bowl may be better for the next person.

I think it is more like a takeout restaurant. Small and cute restaurant. But there is a feel a bit of sketchy or something . The bathroom has broken flush and broken vandalized walls.
The food was delicious. Tacos were delicious, and bread was fresh. Service was okay. The price was good. Parking is free 5am to 5pm. After that, $5.
We enjoyed our visit. …

My girlfriend ordered the plantain and cheese sandwich. There was barely any cheese or plantains. Normally the food is good, but this is crazy.

Love this place. This is THE spot to end a night out on the town. Boys are in there working overtime at 1 am to get everyone’s orders fulfilled, and the areapas hit every. single. time. Big ups to everyone working here… you’ve been fulfilling my late night munchies for a while

I think I’ll become a regular here. This food was too good! Service was above and beyond as well. Stopped in for lunch one day and came right back for lunch the next day. 🙂 thank you

Flacos was some of the best Cuban food I’ve ever had and probably the best Cuban food in Gainesville. On top of that the prices were very reasonable, good portion size, quick service, and good atmosphere. They are also open really late so it’s nice to go there after a night out. My favorite item on the menu is definitely the chicken and plantain arepa it was amazing. I recently tried the cheese and plantain sandwich which was also super good and huge. I also absolutely love the ropa vieja sandwhich.
My boyfriend recently ordered the nachos with Ropa vieja and buffalo; that’s now my favorite thing on the menu. The only complaint is there wasn’t enough chips but they kindly gave us some when we asked for more

Has Flaco’s quality gone down over the years, or was I just a drunk college student when I used to like it? We were driving up north and craving Cuban food, so we decided to quickly stop at Flaco’s for a bite. The parking was horrendous, but that’s expected of downtown Gainesville. Just as bad as the parking was their selection and quality of bakery snacks.
The guava and cheese pastelitos were horrible; stale dough and barely any cheese. After my first bite I even thought they gave me the guava-only pastelitos… you couldn’t taste the cheese. The empanadas were dry, and the dough was terrible as well, but the flavor of the filling saved them. The quesitos were the best of the bunch. If you’re expecting South Florida quality Cuban dulces… you’re in for a treat.
Maybe I just had too high of expectations?

Solid late night food place for quick and yummy Cuban food. Definitely can be rowdy and chaotic on a busy night out, not necessarily the cleanest. Eating on the outside patio is the move.
