The first Waterloo Ice House opened its doors on Congress Avenue in 1976. It was casual neighborhood gathering spot serving hot, handmade meals and ice cold beer for an eclectic mix of Austin business people, students, artists and musicians. Over the years, Waterloo has become a place for whole family entertainment, including playscapes for kids, game rooms, flat screen TVs for watching various sporting events, large outdoor patios and full bars. There are now four Waterloo locations, which include the location at 360 and 2222, Burnet Road and 183, Escarpment Village, and Southpark Meadows.
Salads, baked potatoes, burgers & beer plus a kids’ menu dished up in a high-energy, casual setting.

First time ever going to a Waterloo Ice House. Friends highly recommend it and I can see why! Wait staff was fantastic, fun, and professional! Food was great. Bacon was perfectly crisp and mouth watering. Our waiter highly recommended the Buenos Dias Margarita and HOLY MOLY WAS IT WORTH IT.

nice looking place if you can get past the dirtiness and the terrible food. Wife ordered the hockey puck sliders. My fish and chips, try cooking with greese that doesn’t taste like it’s 6 months to late to change. If not for the onion rings and queso and chips I still would be starving. Fyi, the place is dirty, you cool little robots with dried drippings is a little gross

After hike grub.. typical breakfast plate.. there were 3 of us who ordered the same food, but they managed to mix 2 of the plates up and missed on the over medium egg requested.. eggs came out over easy instead..
Opted for homemade biscuits but looked and tasted like dinner rolls instead.. requested crispy bacon and hashbrowns, they were done correctly.. add on $5 pecan pancake was dry.. not good..

We went for a girls’ lunch with 2 kiddos. The food was delicious and huge portioned. I thuroughly enjoyed my chicken fried steak. Their biscuit basket is crave-able. I will be thinking about the strawberry butter for a long while. We also enjoyed extending our fun in the backyard playground, which was approved by the 3 year old of our party. 10/10 will eat here again.

So the fried pickles are a hit. Ordered the chicken fried chicken and the chicken portion was lacking in size. It was just enough but on the smaller size. My partner had soup and salad. The soup was not hot, maybe warm at best. The tater tots were another winner. They have a robot cart that delivers food to your table. It worked fine and I saw how staff just walked around like another staffer.

My family tried this place out and really enjoyed it especially our toddler on the playground. We got the steak & chicken fajitas and a kids mac. It was all very good and great portions. We’ll definitely be back!

1 star for friendly, cute hostess at 2pm hour today, otherwise very disappointing. Breakfast burrito was totally bland, stuffed jalapeños were kind of ick, ranch dressing had a weird sweet flavor, food is served by a robot, server Matthew K was not friendly at all & generally not-clean feel to the space. Haven’t been here in years and will never be back.

Brought the family here. Jacob was our server. Above and beyond service from start to finish. Just want to give him a shout out. Nicole stopped by the table to make sure we were having a great time. Uh oh… we ordered a happy hour menu item (nachos), and when they charged us full price we asked them about what had happened, and they said we were out of luck and we had to specifically say we wanted the ‘Bar Nachos’, I suppose pointing right at the $6.99 happy hour deal and saying ‘we would like THESE nachos’ isnt enough. We would have pointed it out before payment was made, but they didnt offer a receipt until after the card was ran.
Would of been happy with troubleshooting with manager, as mistakes happen… but they didn’t even want to have the conversation. Shame. I liked this place…
