We came for breakfast Saturday morning. The crew showcased great team work and outstanding customer service. Jose was our waiter and checked in on us often. 3 other members came to check on us and tended to our asks and plates. I ordered the bacon Benedict and it was tasty. The orange juice was deliciously fresh.

The coffee was just okay, nothing special. But what was truly terrible was the dish I ordered. It’s called the “Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak with Eggs,” and it was awful. It comes with a thick white gravy that tastes really bad. The “chicken” isn’t even a whole breaded piece — it’s some kind of dark-colored ground patty that doesn’t taste like chicken at all. Honestly, chicken nuggets taste better.

The diced potatoes with vegetables were fine, and the over-medium eggs looked almost raw. Overall, it was a disappointing experience at this Black Bear Diner location. I’ve been to other ones — for example in Oakley and on the outskirts of Los Angeles — and they’ve been incredible. There’s no doubt that the cooks make a huge difference in the quality of the restaurant.

Like any other Black Bear Diner experience, the theme is country meals, not the best, but better than most, service can leave you waiting during peak times, atmosphere usually chaotic.

I like black bear for the heart breakfast that fills me up. The girls love the lemonade. Everyone leaves full and happy. If you are hungry and one is about, but your not sure of other places to eat, stick to Black bear and you will le a very satisfied.

Last month, I received an email from Black Bear Diner saying that I can come and enjoy a free breakfast for my birthday, so we decided to go to the Walnut Creek location right before Thanksgiving.
We had our service dog with us, so we requested an outdoor table on the patio. We were seated quickly with menus and silverware and Veronica came out to greet us. She was so warm and friendly to us that we felt compelled to write this review to ensure that she be recognized for her attentive and very kind service. A genuine smile certainly goes a long way and it made our day and my birthday celebration that much more special.

Thank you Black Bear for employing good people! We will most definitely return for more great food and service.

So this is the first time I felt good eating here. The customer service was excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shout out to our server with the penguin tattoo, she has great customer service, super sweet and the guy that was wiping stuff down. If you want good food along with service, go to this one!

Ok for lunch but my burgerandfries tasted warmed up instead of cooked fresh. And they were barely the warm, not hot. Portions were large and prices were good.

Black Bear Diner isn’t the place to go if you desire innovative or non-traditional breakfast fare. You’re going to be seated in booths that are about 10% smaller than they should be while being served by a person who is managing too many tables simultaneously; that leads to an unresponsive server who is doing the best they can. The food is pretty uninspiring Americana dishes – soggy hash browns, and overcooked eggs were well represented at our table. I’ll go back only if it is convenient. In general, it’s no better or worse than any Denny’s I’ve ever eaten at.

I had lunch at Black Bear for the first time with a group.. Had a great time. The food was wonderful, plenty and very tasty. The chicken fried steak was tender with their amazing sauce. And then biscuits were incredible ! Servi e was great, friendly and helpful. This will be a new go to spot to enjoy a great meal out without breaking the bank!

Me and my husband came to try this place for the first time, the food was very good, and our waitress was really nice and always checked up on us. The food didn’t took too long to make. My whole experience was good.

My baby sister sent me a Christmas early lunch, as I could not be with my family this year. This Pot Roast was so good I actually cried a little. (it’s Christmas so don’t come for me ). Like… TENDERNSM, baby! IYKYK Cornbread just the right amount of sweet and savory, green beans that melt it your mouth and a Banana Cream Pie that is just perfection. Thanks so much for working on Christmas Day, Black Bear Diner. You made this girl feel like she was home for the holidays. ♥️ ⛄ ♥️
