Saffron Valley, new name Cilantree (Saffron Valley), in downtown Salt Lake City offers a truly delightful dining experience. The restaurant has a very pleasant and inviting ambience—elegant yet comfortable—making it a great place for both a relaxed family meal and a special outing.
The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care. One thing we really appreciated was how well the vegetarian and vegan dishes were marked on the menu, making it easy to choose without any confusion. The dishes were flavorful and authentic, with a perfect balance of spices—neither oily nor overloaded with condiments. The taste was rich and satisfying, allowing the natural flavors to shine through. Portions were generous and filling, offering great value for the quality served.
The staff deserves special mention for being extremely courteous, attentive, and welcoming. Their warm hospitality added a lot to the overall experience and made us feel comfortable throughout the meal.
Overall, Cilantree (Saffron Valley) provides a wonderful combination of great ambience, delicious and wholesome food, and excellent service. It was a very nice dining experience, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in downtown SLC.

I had a strong craving for some real spicy food one evening, so I decided to visit Saffron Valley at Avenues. As soon as I walked in, the place had a warm and cozy vibe, and I felt like I came to the right spot.

While going through the menu, my eyes stopped at the Chef’s Specials. That’s where I found the Dhaba Style Chicken Curry, and something told me this is exactly what I needed. I ordered it with garlic naan, hoping it would hit the right spice level.

When the food arrived, the aroma itself made me hungry again. The first bite was a total blast perfect balance of spices, and that true dhaba-style taste that reminds you of highway food back in India. The garlic naan paired so well that every bite felt better than the last.

By the time I finished, my spice craving was fully satisfied. This dish is honestly a treat for spice lovers. If you enjoy fiery, flavorful food, then this is a must-try dish at Saffron Valley. I would definitely go back again just for this

Went on Sunday, $20 lunch buffet. I liked the south Indian dishes – dosa, idli, vada. The vegetarian curries were good, mushroom one in particular. Goat biryani was great. The desserts were ok, didn’t like the moong daal payasam. Quick service – for dosas and taking the plates off the table.

Saffron Valley in the avenues is one of my favorite go to restaurants, conveniently located in my neighborhood and open late. The food is always delicious and consistent. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcomed. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Tonight I orders the Paneer Dosa, it was so delicious filled with a lot of paneer and veggies, served with two chutneys and sambar. The serving size can easily feed two people. You’ve got to try it!!

They have rebranded and are now called cilantree but the quality is still excellent. We went for the lunch buffet on Friday and enjoyed every dish on the buffet. Highly recommend!

To start off the space is beautifully decorated and inviting.
The service was fantastic, they were so kind and attentive and recommended me an item to try from the buffet!
Everything i tried was delicious. Usually when I get indian food, I stick to a couple dishes I know, so it was awesome to get to try a bunch of new things!
I’ll be back!

One word: AMAZING! My friend and I visited SLC, and we had been craving Indian food. I am so glad we chose this location. By that, I mean this specific location in Avenue, not Sugar House (they are run by two different people). Everything from the service to the interior and the food was beyond amazing.

A lot of Indian food I’ve had elsewhere tends to be too heavy or filled with preservatives, which doesn’t suit me. This place was different — the food was light, filling, and bursting with flavor and love. They are also very vegetarian and vegan friendly, with so many options.

I ordered a Dosa, Samosa Chaat with yogurt on the side, Tandoori Roti, and one other dish. This place is highly recommended over any other Indian restaurant. I would definitely come here again! Enjoy the mouth watering photos!

Tried on a friend’s recommendation: not worth the $35. Chicken tikka masala was very sweet, tasted more of sugar than any other flavor. Not even just natural tomato sweetness, clearly additive. Almost no depth of flavor, and barely any chicken. Naan was fine, though very oily. Chai was okay. Whole place also smelled strongly of whatever they used to clean the floor. Will not be back – Mumbai house is way better.

Been to the Sugarhouse location a lot of times for lunch buffet and first time in this location for an a la carte dinner and yep, it never disappoints. If any, maybe even better due to it’s spacious dining area. Nevertheless, the food, the presentation, ambience and the service is as exceptional Will sure come back for their lunch buffet, soon!

if you want the *essence* of Indian food go here. the food here lacks the depth that I feel other Indian food usually offers and the flavor is just barely there. It’s not the worst I’ve had but it’s certainly not the best. Although I will say the service was enthusiastic and kind. I would describe the food as ‘fine’ and a good quick fix when Mumbai house is closed lol.
