Paul’s is always a favorite spot for great food, selection, dessert and community. Atmosphere is open with plenty of seating. Usually a small wait at busier lunch and dinner hours. Food comes out quick and prepared correctly. Reasonable prices.

I used to drive past this resturant because it didn’t look like much on the outside. Not modern. But I decided to stop in when I saw pictures of the desserts online. The food was amazing. The owner stopped by and 80% of the food is homemade, trust me, you can taste it! The employees seem to take pride working there. My only regret is not trying it sooner!

I have heard from many that Paul’s restaurant had great food. I decided to stop by for the first time and I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered the chorizo skillet it was delicious and worth every penny. The service was great! Our waiter Camelia stopped by multiple times and made sure we had everything we needed. I Loved that the other staff went around several times and made sure everyone had a warm cup of coffee. Definitely stopping by again to have lunch and try a slice of their delicious looking cakes.

Being a staple restaurant in elgin for a long time , great family restaurant n cozy home atmosphere, consistently decent food n service.
But recommend a little venture towards the seasoning of some dishes .
The biscuits gravy needed something n the same goes for the country fried steak…not sure what but it was quite bland.

Following the death of my wifes sister in Elgin, we stopped into Paul’s since this was her favorite restaurant. She was right. Very nice people and plenty of good tasting food. Great menu variety and a fantastic desert case which you see as soon as you walk in. We returned a second time with great results and plan to come back again when we are in the area.

Great place for breakfast. We came in on Friday morning and it was quick to get seated and order our food. The portions were reasonable for the price. Their coffee is pretty good too. Food came quickly and was tasty. Would definitely consider coming again if I’m in the area.

I am so embarrassed I gave this place a third try today. I’ve had 2 different times where this place lets me down and I never wrote a review about it. Today was the last. My sister took me out for breakfast and I live nearby and we walked with our daughters making us 4 total. The lady who served us was older with glasses and was playing nice in our face but definitely treated us with some animosity. She poured the HOT coffee into my coffee cup from so high up that it splashed everywhere. Mind you my baby in the high chair next to me and when I looked up to look at her like if she didn’t just notice her do that is only when she forcefully said “sorry” in a rude way. Then at the end she ANNOUNCED the total super loud and asked my sister “ALRIGHT YOUR TOTAL IS $85 … ARE YOU PLANNING ON LEAVING A TIP” but never actually handed the bill to my sister. My sister always gives a tip and still gave her 20% but that to me was super rude and uncalled for. I definitely felt uncomfortable around her and didn’t feel like she liked us because she wasn’t treating any other people that way. And we had people all over us. She never read out loud anyone else’s tab so I ask myself why us? Was it discrimination because we’re Mexican and she’s white? Regardless it was super rude and I wouldn’t recommend. Never again. The food was delicious though but not worth the bad treatment we got. I rather get McDonalds and I think we would probably get treated better. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Cheated me out of $3.00. Advertised a turkey dinner on it’s Web site for$16.95. Not on menu that day, made it for me anyway, then charged me $19.95. I complained. Manager was disrespectful, gruff, and mean and said that was the old price. Turkey was sliced thin and grilled dark brown, not warmed up in stock, and the stuffing was soggy and not good. I don’t think John Paul or Stella would approve. They served the very best, thick sliced, most succulent turkey dinners on the planet. Too bad. I will never go back!
