During my recent visit to Applebee’s, I witnessed a rather troubling situation. A table needed to be cleared, but there was a mess that the manager was in the process of mopping up. From what I gathered, the hosts decided to wait until the area was fully sanitized before clearing the table, which seemed like a sensible approach to me.
However, I noticed that both the manager and the server responded quite harshly toward one of them—the girl with shorter brown hair—which created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere. The host used one foul word, which, in my opinion, shouldn’t have been made into a huge deal. We are all adults, and cursing is fairly normalized.
What bothered me was that the server, Gina I believe was her name, got a snappy and rude attitude toward the host, and it almost looked like they were ganging up on her over a table. I watched the host calmly walk to another table and start cleaning while the other host finished the first one.
Then, while she was cleaning, the manager raised his voice across the dining room and told her to “do the outs and leave.” I just found it incredibly disheartening to watch that happen to a younger worker who was defending herself against two older employees. I think it’s very unprofessional for a manager to raise his voice and tell an employee to leave in the middle of the dining room over something so small.
I also think it’s very unfair that the server’s energy was validated when she was being rude to begin with. Come on, Applebee’s—there seems to be drama every time I go in there. You’ve definitely lost my business, as I left feeling really upset after watching the hosts be treated so poorly.

⭐️⭐️ Applebee’s: The Olympic Sport of Waiting
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be trapped in a restaurant where time moves slower than dial-up internet, Applebee’s has you covered. The service is… well, “service” might be a strong word. They’re either chronically understaffed or the waitresses are starring in their own live-action remake of I Have No Idea What I’m Doing. Hard to tell.
The food? Shockingly decent — like, “I guess this is edible” decent. But don’t get too excited, because you’ll have plenty of time to emotionally prepare for it while you wait. And wait. And wait some more. Need a refill? Better send up a flare, because those things are harder to come by than a clean table on half-price apps night.
Overall, if you enjoy lukewarm service, mild confusion, and questioning your life choices one refill at a time, the Danville Applebee’s is the place for you.
Update: went back after my review against my better judgment and ordered a hamburger with WAFFLE fries. I got regular fry’s of course. Didn’t say anything because I was already mad that the broken chair ripped my coat.

Ordered 2 Cajun Salmon dinners, the Salmon was the dryest I’ve ever had!!! Also had the loaded potatoes which had no chives, no sour cream. If I felt like driving back I would’ve returned it. Unfortunately I’m still hungry and out of $40.

Tried their “Buy Two Get One Free” deal… Chicken Parmesan was delicious and BIG, but instead of the free appetizer, we opted for the two side salads!!! Way more than we could eat and had to take three boxes home!!!

Stopped in Danville, IL.
The place is clean except the bathroom had no paper towels.
The food prices were reasonable and good portion sizes. I ordered the chicken tender salad (see picture) and my husband ordered the grilled chicken salad. Both were delicious. Staff was attentive abd friendly. It was a nice quiet place for lunch.

If I had anything to say about this chain it would be the absolutely amazing service from staff. At 6pm on a Sunday our waitress was on point with drinks and food orders. Get the Riggs on draft and the quesadilla burger was solid. Wings were listed “extra hot” but they had standard Buffalo heat. Clean establishment and would reccomend.

Applebee’s is not often though about when a good steak is what you’re looking for. It’s perhaps one of the best chains that I’ve found aside from a steak house to get a great meal. Even then they other out do some of the better known steak houses. As always a great meal.
