I’ve been really wanting to go here and check this place out because of their large quesadillas. They’re really big! Loved my food and even had leftovers. The meat is very tender and not tough at all. Birria was flavorful and tasty as well. Their salsa bar was great too where you can add as much onion or cilantro to your food. I loved all of their salsa, even the peanut one which had a unique flavor to it. Loved the service here as well.

Machetes here feels a little different than the other spot I tried, but still the same vibe. I was literally the only person inside, which I kinda liked. The lady at the register was nice and super chill.
I went with the baby machete this time. Basically the smallest quesadilla, but packed with meat. I ended up adding on all the extra toppings they had, just to make it extra loaded. The handmade tortilla made everything better, soft but sturdy, and held all the fillings without falling apart. The meat was tender, but honestly the salsa stole the show. Spicy, had that quick hit of heat that makes you wanna take another bite right away. Perfect balance with the tortilla and cheese.
I have tried the junior and now the baby. I’m ready to tackle the big one for next time.

The cashier was extremely helpful and kind. I asked what most people order, and we went with her suggestion. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. Both the birria and the steak were tender, but they lacked flavor—the birria sauce especially was extremely bland.
The toppings were served buffet-style; while the station was clean and well-stocked with fresh red onion, cilantro, lettuce, crema, sauces, and etc it felt more like self-service than family dining. Our plates looked nicely presented, but the flavors didn’t live up to the presentation.
On a positive note, they do offer freshly squeezed juices, which was an unexpected joy. However, I should have taken it as a sign that the restaurant was nearly empty during rush hour.

I went with my wife. When we walked in at about 2:00 PM, it was so empty that I had to ask if they were open. They were, so we were taken care of. I ordered the full quesabirria machete. My wife got a smaller one with just cheese and a side of rice. The food came out quickly and hot. We were both very pleased with what we got. The quesabirria was very tender and the consomme was excellent. The horchata was good, but a little too sweet for my taste. Before we left, several other people showed up and ate at this little gem.

I was really excited to try this! I loved the whole quesadilla concept. The place was clean, plenty of seating and the cashier was a sweet lady who took every order with a smile! The food was really good, but there was a little something missing for my taste. It wasn’t bad or anything just needed a lil more ooomth. The prices were my favorite, I ordered my meal and ordered to go for a fairly decent price. I still want to go back and try perhaps another meat.

I was extremely excited by the quesa birria tacos presentation.. but the taste was disappointing. No real flavor, definitely will not return. The bathroom was out of service and out of soap. Not sure how they wash their hands. The prices are extremely high and definitely not worth it. Don’t go here.

This place is insane with their quesadillas! Hands down! The best quesadilla in CHICAGO. I decided to go with the machete half steak and half pig leg meat. They have a station where you can add salsa and the condiments. Will be coming back to try the rest of their meats.
