The ambiance is nice. Over looking marina. But the food is not what I expected. My steak frites comes with fries but the fries are dry and burnt its like few days old fries that reheated. Steak also just ok. The calamari doesn’t even look like calamari. It tastes like flour. The paella is too saucy. The shrimp bacon appy is yummy. Good thing is 2 for 1 appetizers. Otherwise its not worth for the price. Service is good. Our server Holden is very attentive and nice

Extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We ordered two mains (fish & chips and pasta) and one chowder. The food was just average— nothing memorable and certainly not worth the price. For two main dishes and one soup it cost 80 CAD.
Unfortunately, the service was even worse.
When we walked in, there was no one at the entrance. We had to walk further inside and wait about two minutes before a server came out — and I had to approach her first. After being seated, although water was already on the table, no one offered to pour it for us. We were left to serve ourselves.
It was surprisingly difficult to receive basic attention. Several staff members were chatting behind the counter while we waited to place our order. Instead of being attentive, the service felt passive — as though we had to ask for everything (eg. bowls to share the chowder) rather than being proactively assisted.
When we requested takeout boxes, the server simply dropped off the containers without any help, so we packed everything ourselves.
The payment process further reflected a lack of professionalism. I first attempted to pay with a UnionPay card. After swiping twice with no response, I asked whether the staff knew how to process it. She replied that she didn’t and had never seen this type of card before. I then tried tapping my TD credit card, which also failed — and only then was the machine reset. The overall attitude came across as unhelpful and dismissive.
The restaurant is located on a boat, which caused slight motion and some mild dizziness during the meal. While that may be part of the setting, it made attentive service even more important — something that was clearly lacking.
Earlier that same day, we had afternoon tea at Butchart Gardens, where the service was easily ten times better — attentive, professional, and warm — and their suggested tip started at 15%. Here, with noticeably lower service standards, the minimum suggested tip was 18%.
For a restaurant at this price point, basic hospitality and professionalism should be expected. I regret leaving a $15 tip. We will not be returning.

We had lunch here on a Wednesday and sat out on the patio which has a great view of the harbour and float planes coming and going. I ordered the halibut fish and chips which tasted good but felt a little too greasy. Our son had the chicken fingers with fries and he was happy with it. The only downside was that it took quite a while for the server to come by and take our order even though it was not that busy at the time. The location is really nice though and makes it a good spot to relax by the water while having a casual meal.

I recently visited Victoria and chose The Flying Otter Grill for dinner for our first night in the city. We arrived at about 6:15pm and there were a few parties ahead of us. We were given 30 minutes as the approximate wait time and we were seated with drinks by the time 30 minutes was up. Our server (forgot her name!) was very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed chatting with her off and on while she looked after us. I had a cup of the clam chowder to start and when I exclaimed “This is better than a can of Chunky!” the diners near-by agreed. The chowder was excellent ~ in hindsight I wish I had a full size bowl. We ordered Fish & Chips as the main – 1 ordered Cod and 1 ordered Halibut – we aren’t sure if each of us got the one we ordered or if they were mixed up, but we both really enjoyed our meal. Thank-you for setting the tone for our visit – we enjoyed really, really good service everywhere we stopped in Victoria. I hope to come back soon and I’ll be sure to stop by for the full bowl of Chowder next time.

Great Patio and Drinks, But Food Fell Short. Enjoyed a good Caesar and the patio area was lovely — perfect for a sunny day. The seafood paella had a nice kick and solid flavor, but some of the rice was undercooked or clumpy, and the mussels didn’t taste fresh. The halibut was crisp and fresh, but the batter was too thick, making it overly greasy. Definitely not the best spot for food in town, but I’d consider returning for drinks and appetizers on a nice day. Also, it would be nice to have better service.

We had been recommended this restaurant by a friend, and it did not disappoint. We had gluten-free fish and chips which came with a nice serving of fries and coleslaw. The drinks were tasty and the atmosphere was lively. The location is right next to the Victoria Harbour Airport and you can see a view of sea planes as well as the sunset. Nice fun place to enjoy a meal.

Great little spot right by the water in downtown Victoria .The service was great with a good selection of food. The fish and chips were a hit, along with the seafood linguine and especially the seafood paella. The prices seemed reasonable for the location and quality of food. Would recommend this place.

The staff and atmosphere are terrific. The location on the water of Victoria, BC’s bay is amazing. They accommodated my celiac issues with skill and experience.

We loved the atmosphere and that the restaurant was right on the water of the harbor behind the seaplanes. We had the bacon shrimp (crispy goodness) seafood paella (nice little kick), wings and burger.
