This blackbear diner is tucked away inside the casino might be a little hard to find if you’re not looking for it. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. The tables were clean and I assume sanitized.
The only criticism I have is the potatoes were undercooked and the meat in my all meat omelette was overcooked. But the friendly service made up for it. As you can see in the photos you definitely don’t go away hungry they are very generous portions

What a treat! Drove all the way down to Carson City to get a Driver’s license renewed. I have been to a lot of Black Bear Diners in various States. This one is in a hotel. They also had some slot machines. The restaurant itself was not highly decorated, however, the service and the food were exemplary.

Went based on reviews and I give it a 3 stars. We weren’t greeted at the door, girl look at us like as we we’re lost. We got sat and ordered, food came fast. Food was presentable and tasteful, we enjoyed our meal. Though our server Sara didn’t check on us or greeted us upon arriving or wish us a good day when we left, we still left her $10.00 tip. I hope the customer service gets better because they do have good food here.

It was good when they opened, but now it’s pretty much a middle of the road coffee shop a little better than Denny’s. Sandwich was on the dry side and the fish and chips were just frozen pre battered pieces of fish.

The sweet cream waffles were superb, and the portion sizes are enormous! There’s good value. The coffee was bitter beyond belief. The decorations are much cooler in the Henderson, NV location, but it’s a neat place nonetheless.

If you’re unfamiliar, the Black Bear diner is a local-ish chain diner/restaurant, mostly in Northern California, which I believe started in the Mt. Shasta area. I’ve been going for years, mostly when on the road north of Sacramento, but they’ve now expanded their locations south to the Bay Area and east into Nevada.
This Carson City location is just inside of a casino and has a bit different atmosphere than the other stand alone locations, but they maintain the rustic charm with carved wood statues and benches.
The menu is mostly breakfast and lunch, but they have some good dinners too including the prime rib special on Friday and Saturday evenings.
If you’re up for a challenge, they have a huge burger in addition to the regular burgers. And most meals come with a nice cornbread muffin.
And if you like desert, don’t miss their signature, huge deserts including all kinds of pies and cakes me of the biggest bear claws I’ve ever seen.
It’s family and big group friendly, so bring the whole gang.

Huge and delicious portions for a hearty brunch. The sweet cream pancakes were some of the best pancakes I’ve had in recent memory.

Great food as always, and well portioned for hungry bears (4 gentlemen and 1 lady). Fast service, and our waiter was very attentive. We will definitely be back very soon.
