Jules Bistro – Eclectic Kim Review
Reviews
The space was quite cramped, you’re seated so close to the next table so you might struggle to be heard a little. Seating is 1.5hours which I think is fair and the service team was great.
Half priced menu is definitely worth it, so swing by on a tuesda. Reservations required!!!
The service was spot-on, and the staff were all friendly, very attentive, and eager to help. It’s a popular spot, so making a reservation in advance is definitely recommended if you want to avoid a long wait.
We ordered the steak tartare to start and were very disappointed. It tasted like it wasn’t seasoned with anything except shallots and capers and the crackers served were so hard and crunchy, it ended up cutting my mouth multiple times.
We ordered the steak deal they have on Tuesday as well, and like many other reviews here, it wasn’t cooked properly in many spots and was FULL of silver skin and fat. We ended up not being able to eat at least 3 of the 10 pieces. The fries were good but tasted like they were from a bag and the salad was a bit bland but ended up being the best on the plate.
The service throughout the night from other servers was not good. They wouldn’t remove anything off the table unless we asked. We ordered two sodas and left the cans on the corner of the table and when one of the serves dropped off our food, she left them on the table. We had to ask multiple times for things to be taken off our table like getting new plates and cutlery, empty soda bottles, etc.
I asked the manager for a dessert recommendation and repeated multiple times, literally 5 times, to surprise us. He kept telling us what he would order us and in the end it wasn’t a surprise at all. That’s totally fine and not a big hindrance to the meal but it was to the experience. He wasn’t listening to us and his attitude completely changed when we paid our bill.
The dessert he chose was the chocolate cake which was sooooo dry and cold the chocolate ganache wouldn’t even stay on the cake. It literally tasted like a chocolate flavored sponge, it was terrible.
We paid a %15 tip, which was generous for the experience, since we both work in hospitality management but once the manager saw what we tipped he gave our receipt and walked away. Not a word from him, not a thank you, have a goodnight, hope you enjoyed everything, nothing. We got up to get our coats by the bar where there were 3 staff including him and nothing.
This was a mediocre food experience and ended up being a terrible service experience. To be honest, if he wasn’t so rude after tipping 15%, I wouldn’t have even wrote this. Learn some customer service manners and teach your staff English.
Service was great.
The only minor negative feedback is the cocktails were fine so I’d stick with wine and the tv at the bar was a bit off for a bistro. It changed the vibe.
• 24 oz steak
• fries
• salad (upgraded to Cesar salad for $5.50)
• peppercorn sauce (feature item for additional $3.50)
Great value meal for two people to share on occasion. Would definitely come back again on a Tuesday. Peppercorn sauce is not needed but adds a little variety.
Also ordered PEI oysters for $3 each (min. 6) which was on feature. It was good but really small.
The tartar I got was too seasoned and salty but with the budgets, it balanced a little bit. Other than the tartar, everything was tasty. Escargot and steak was my favorite dishes, and the steak wasn’t too fatty but juicy.
I liked it when all the dishes came with green salad which created different combination of flavors.
