After trying it twice I just have to say their food is REALLY good. The first time I tried their chopped BBQ chicken and it was good. I just visited again and tried their half grilled chicken piece with Mac and cheese, sweet potato fries and hush puppies. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. I love their BBQ sauce bar. So far, my only complaint is that the Mac and cheese is a little mushy, but it’s still edible and cheese and it is a little pricey for two people.

We went Fri night around 7pm with some friends, it wasn’t busy at all. We asked a few questions before ordering and was very pleasantly surprised to have the option on Lean Brisket. Also ordered ribs, BBQ and some amazing sides. Loved all the sauce choices and a large place inside too very impressed we will be back. We sat outside and waited for our food and enjoyed the evening. Food was so delicious, I forgot to take pics of all the plates but I got the sweet potato which I love and green beans, both were very good and seasoned well. My husband went back in before we left and ordered 1lb of lean brisket to eat on this WKnd and said it was even better reheated. Good job, we will be back for sure and try other sides and the turkey too which was sold out Friday. We love good home cooking and this place is amazing. So glad to discover this in Wake Forest. We were there for a jeep and pizza event but the pizza place was super busy so went in to Big Al’s instead. Absolutely delicious, highly recommend trying it and all the different sides, my husband enjoyed the corn fritters and Mac n Cheese. The fries were also a little crispy and well seasoned.

Great smoked BBQ! Friendly and helpful staff. May husband & I each had the lean brisket platter. The meat was very tender and were served a generous portion. The sides were all so good. I normally get the sweet potato waffle fries which are nice & crispy, but tried the fried sweet corn tots for first time. They were very good, but the sweet potato fries remain my favorite! They have so many home-made BBQ sauces to choose from. A couple of them come close to my favorite KC style! Love their new location!

Big Al’s bbq. Wake Forest.
A meat lovers paradise.
You name it, they’ve got it.
Barbecue chicken, beef, pork. And such a wonderful selection of sides. We enjoyed the Cajun shrimp, fried okra and beef burgers.
And the pork ribs of course.
Good and quick service.

Overall Score: 6.0/10 – Unique BBQ experience with a laid-back atmosphere, diverse sauces, and knowledgeable service.

Atmosphere: 6.2/10 – The relaxed vibe of this BBQ spot is perfect for diners looking to enjoy a meal in a comfortable setting. With an array of sauces to choose from, the restaurant provides a truly customizable BBQ experience. The tableclothed tables add a touch of class to the otherwise casual atmosphere.

Service: 6.4/10 – The service here is both attentive and friendly, highlighted by a server who is well-versed in the menu’s offerings. The ability to customize orders, like choosing between lean or fatty brisket, significantly enhances the dining experience. The staff’s efficiency in managing orders and providing assistance is commendable.

Nachos: 5.3/10 – These nachos are basic but come at a fair price, making them a decent option for those seeking a simple appetizer. The pulled pork is well-cooked, and the generous addition of jalapeños adds a nice spicy kick. While not amazing, they deliver on what you would expect from a standard plate of nachos.

Sloppy Joe: 7.1/10 – The Sloppy Joe shines at this establishment, with meat sauce that is both tasty and perfectly seasoned. The spicy kick is just right, enhancing the overall flavor without overwhelming it. The bun holds up well, maintaining its integrity throughout the meal, which is often a pitfall for similar dishes.

Meat Baked Potato: 4.4/10 – The Meat Baked Potato falls a bit short of expectations, mainly due to the disproportionate size of the brisket compared to the potato. It’s challenging to get a balanced bite, which detracts from the enjoyment of the dish. The concept is interesting, but the execution needs refinement to improve the dish’s flow and coherence.

From Ordering to Eating.
All these years!!! We have been in Rolesville. And always wanted to give “Big Al’s BBQ” a try. But today the whole family was in unison and we did. Now we are saying to ourselves, why, why! Have we not tried them yet. On 4th of July, we were able to get a full rack of ribs combo, brisket combo, side order of Hush puppies, and Brunswick stew.

I will tell you this much, The Family enjoyed each and every dish and side. It was nice and worm, and so delicious. And big sauce selection.

I want to thank them for being open on July 4th.

I was able to feed my family of Four for about $70. To me that is a deal, especially with the wonderful taste.

I am a customer from here on forth…

The service and atmosphere were good. Friendly staff.

However, my disappointment was with the food. We ordered Brisket plates with Mac and Cheese and cabbage. The Brisket tasted like it had been cooked and then rinsed off. There was no flavor other than “meat.” I tried 2 of 3 different sauces but they tasted similar to ketchup, bottled BBQ sauce, and I didn’t taste the 3rd one. The Mac and cheese was mushy with no seasoning. The cabbage was like eating raw grated cabbage in warmed chicken stock. The hush puppies were ok.

We also had collards (tasted canned), corn nuggets (were not done), and the baked sweet potato was plain with only a slice of butter.

This was our first tie trying this place and we had high hopes, but sadly we were disappointed. I do have pictures.

Best chicken wings I’ve ever had. Super crispy and flavorful. They have lots of hot sauce options to choose from and they are also all so good. If you are in the area, you should definitely stop by.
