Honestly the best fish and chip shop in Wellington. The guy was very friendly and super knowledgeable about the coeliac and gluten free.
I was hungry when I arrived and left heading straight for a food coma. Great to see a separate fryer for gluten-free fish and chips. The menu is nice and simple, and I’d definitely come back to try the burgers.
The beer-battered mussels were divine, the beer-battered fries with gravy and mozzarella were heavenly, and the gluten-free blue moki with hand-cut chips was out of this world. Loved being able to load your own flavoured salt — the rosemary salt is a winner.
Generous portions, very reasonable prices (cheap for the quality). Parking isn’t great, but absolutely worth the mission. Will definitely be back.

Thee most crazy overpriced average fish and chips ever. Never again. Small Snapper for $18. Fish burger the same price and a sloppy coconut cream mess, zero flavors apart from coconut cream. The curly fries were ok. $45 for what? Had far better from grass roots suburban fish and chips

Beautiful fresh fish. Good value for serve. But due to oil excess feel it was a bit of a waste of money.
Just way too greasy!!!!!! As in dripping with grease.
Food needs to be drained for longer.
Also very frugal on the salt seasoning, be great if they had some salt sachets available so you could adjust to taste.

Everything fresh, tasty, and hot. Great fish and chips … and coming from a Brit that is high praise. Highly recommend

Have tried this place a couple of times, the fish is really fresh and their jalapeño poppers are good. Overall worth the price.

My partner and I are both Wellingtonians, over 70yrs old, and have just experienced our worst fish, chip and battered sausage experience in our lives. Neither of us are fussy eaters but The Chippery in Marjoirebanks st Welie have excelled themselves in disgusting. There was a very small morsel of fish inside the haha,”tempura” batter. The chips were huge and undercooked. The battered sausage was actually like eating cattle salt block. The whole experience went down the waste master. So so % disappointed and not cheap. Oh well, we gave it a go!

Arrived very early evening mid-week and around five already people waiting, so not exactly a busy scenario, yet we still had to wait just over forty minutes for our food! We were a party of six, with simple orders of different types of fish and chips. Food quality and taste was inconsistent with fish that was average to poor, batter was mostly very overcooked and greasy and the chunky chips were mostly really overcooked. Portion sizes were small, but prices large. Although hungry we ate less than half of the food. Having eaten fish and chips for decades all over NZ and indeed other countries, I would suggest you avoid the marketing hype and get a lot better food and service almost anywhere else.

Tough to rate because they were sold out of a ton of meal options when we went, so we didn’t have a lot of choice on food. For what our group was able to get, portions were great, taste was OK, and service was friendly. Service was a bit slow, but not unreasonably so. Good spot to try if you are in the area. The menu looks delish, so when they are fully stocked I would love to give this spot another try with the foods we were hoping to get originally.

Visually the food is super on point looks extremely delicious.
Unfortunately that’s about where the positive ends.
The chicken was extremely under done and over seasoned with an overpowering flavor.
The chips were quite nice but very oily.
The burger wasn’t bad the chicken piece was very thin and for $19 youd expect a bigger patty for the price.
Overall the price for what you got portion wise is fair. 45 dollars all up for 4 CFC Chicken pieces, curly fries, beer battered fires and a souther fried chicken burger.
Would recommend getting a feed elsewhere unless you’re really pressed for a place to eat.

Fish was fresh and perfectly cooked – still moist inside. Hand cut chips were amazing!
I was apprehensive about coming, due to some of the negative reviews and photos. However, my experience was great.
