Popped in after a long journey, I was a bit sceptical at first, as I’d planned to wait until we got to London. But my missus talked me into stopping, and honestly, I’m so glad she did.
The bartender was really friendly and made us feel proper welcome. He suggested a few drinks and said their iced tea was to die for, and he wasn’t wrong. We liked it so much we ended up getting two more to take away before we left!
The atmosphere was warm and chilled, and the waitress was lovely too. She gave us a full rundown of the menu and recommended a few dishes.
We started with the chicken tacos, and I was actually surprised by how good they were; packed with flavour, really fresh, and the little salad they put on top was lush.
For mains, I went with the half rack of ribs, and they did not disappoint. The meat was tender and juicy, and the glaze was spot on. I couldn’t have asked for a better rack of ribs.
All in all, a brilliant little stop. So glad we came in – definitely recommend!

Always have a lovely experience at the Derby restaurant. As I have a gluten intolerance, there is still tons to choose from and the staff are always really careful and considerate.
The food is amazing! I love the fact I can still eat like a queen without feeling restricted or left out.
Staff are brilliant as well. Really friendly and helpful and nothing is too much bother for them. Shout out to Josh who sorted me out with some seasoning rub to take home as I smoke my own meat in my garden l, so that was a lovely little treat.

Don’t often leave reviews, but took my girlfriend here as a surprise to celebrate her University Graduation and we both loved every single part of the evening.
From the moment we entered the staff were attentive, friendly, smiley and showed real enthusiasm for the place. I had a gift bag and they asked if we were celebrating something special, and explained we traveled up from the south for her graduation and all the staff we interacted with congratulated her and showed real interest, they then proceeded to recommend some cocktails based on our likes and said they would be on the house as a congratulations to celebrate my girlfriend graduating.
We said we were thinking about the brisket and they quickly brought some over as a free sample to try and it was incredibly well cooked. We ordered the bourbon bacon shells (I think that’s what they’re called) and the gumbo as a starter and we had the full smokehouse platter for 2 with extra brisket and it was all delicious and brought out in good time. I don’t know what they put on the chicken portions but the sauce was so good I hit the table.
We didn’t have any dessert because we honestly couldn’t eat another thing, but they all sounded incredible. Even though I had to push the booking back due to traffic and was one of the later bookings, we never felt rushed or unwelcome and everyone was lovely till the end. I had the ‘how mama made it’ cocktail and it was one of the best, most unique whiskey cocktails I’ve had. Oh also they just give you free popcorn as you come in which was a nice touch!
I’ve seen some mixed reviews on here which made me nervous as wanted it to be a special suprise, but honestly couldn’t fault anything and the staff made it as great as the food. I’ve never really left a restaurant before that impressed, I normally have something that makes me think ‘that could be better or improved on’, but not this time – thank you to all the staff and I’ve not mentioned them yet, but the chefs behind the scenes – you know what you’re doing and speaks volumes in your food, and you’re not gunna leave still hungry.

What a great place this is. So much choice, lots of great flavours and options – I need to come back again and again to make sure ive tried all the dishes I want. A quick cheat code to do this would be ordering the platter which includes all the meats – so much food for what you get too – 3 people could eat the platter for 2 if youre calorie counting. Could be my new favourite place.

I think we just had a bad service night @ hickorys last night. We got the wrong order first, then whilst my bf had his plate, I had to wait for mine.
I got the rump steak medium, the steak was cooked uneven and it was medium rare… very difficult to chew as well. No salt or pepper on our table. My bf got the sir loin in a well done and in the end got a medium steak.
We thought the desert would make up for it but not really either.. the fudge cake was drowned in chocolate fudge and it was warmed up in the microwave…
It was overall for both of us a very bad experience. But the place is cool, it has nice vibes, the staff is very friendly. It was just the food for us, not it.

Absolutely love coming here, every time I do the food is delicious and the service is amazing, such a friendly atmosphere.
Not to mention I came for birthday celebrations this time and the staff went out their way to make it extra special for me.
Special thanks also to the worker Jav who has served me the last two times I have been and he’s so friendly and accommodating.

Went for the first time as I’d never been to a hickory’s. The food was incredible! I was actually really shocked at how high quality it was. Everything had so much flavour. I will definitely return.

Come here after a long drive before my hotel. The first is excellent, very tasty and reasonably priced. We went for the sharing platter because we couldn’t decide what to have and every part of it was excellent. But rhe grape soda… top tier!

Wow, Hickory’s smokehouse was such a lovely experience, me and my partner went as first timers there and was treated so nicely even got a free taster of there beautiful brisket.
We enjoy the smoke house platter, although we couldn’t finish it all it was delicious, so many juicy flavours.
All the meats were deliciously cooked and I have no complaints, the price is reasonable for the quality of meats they provide, it is a costly meal so for me it will definitely be a special occasion when I next visit but I am looking forward to that visit.
