I recently dined at Harp & Fiddle which is family owned and had an exceptional experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it perfect for both casual outings and special occasions. The food was outstanding, with every dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The drinks menu was equally impressive, offering a wide selection of creative cocktails and a well-curated wine list. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and drinks!
Will always be my go to spot to host any events
Nothing about this place is horrible but nothing was exceptional either.
The service was fine in that they took our orders, but that’s about it.
The food was fine. My burger was a burger. No great flavor to it. The kids meals were also fine.
I will say the draft list is slightly better than average.
The outdoor seating consists of a few tables out front and a back patio area. Be warned the tables in the back are wobbly and while they have umbrellas, based on the sun’s position half your table won’t be covered.
Overall just a meh experience.
We started with the Harp-battered onion rings – crispy, golden perfection dipped in a tangy house sauce that had us fighting over the last one. For mains, the fish and chips were a standout: flaky Atlantic cod in that signature batter, served with thick-cut fries and a side of mushy peas that transported me straight back to my last trip to Ireland. My partner raved about the chicken piccata, with its bright lemon-garlic sauce over tender spinach – fresh, flavorful, and not a heavy bite in sight. Portions are generous, prices are fair (entrees around $18-25), and everything arrived piping hot and beautifully plated.
Service was top-notch; our server, Eileen, was a delight – attentive without hovering, with spot-on recommendations for the wine list and a smile that lit up the room. And let’s talk drinks: the mead cocktail was a sweet revelation, and the perfectly poured Guinness? Chef’s kiss. We even caught some live Irish music on a Friday night, which turned our dinner into an impromptu sing-along.
Whether you’re grabbing a casual bite with friends, celebrating a special occasion, or just craving comfort food that hits all the notes, The Harp and Fiddle delivers every time. We’ve already booked our next visit for a private event in their Snug room. If you’re in Park Ridge, do yourself a favor and go – you won’t regret it. Sláinte!
(Pro tip: Reserve ahead for weekends – it’s that popular for a reason.)I
