El Pollo Supremo its chicken is char-broiled de la parrilla after marinated overnight (I hope they still do) with the secret Mexican family recipe of Robert Alvarez who opened first in Oxnard then expanded to the Bay Area and East Coast with his associates (*Cuban flavor kicked in ) I have known this place on Geneva since late 90s but have been absent for about a decade until recently. In sum ❶Chicken is tasty but little dry as noted by other reviewers; ❷Sauce is not bad but could opt for a variety such as Peri-Peri suggested by Ed Yu [*Unlikely though because Ramiro is gonna turn 82 ]; ❸ Beans and rice are decent ❹Tortillas are terrible ❺Price is reasonable after all no one wants “roll the dice” for fancy pricey new joints nowadays…

If you don’t know about El pollo supremo I’m not sure we can be friends. This spot has some of the best chicken in the city. Authentic homestyle food that hits every time. The chicken is moist with the charbroiled flavor. Make sure you do a combo and get those plantains on the side for dessert(thank me later).

An old gem and staple that hasn’t changed with time. Every chance I get to walk in, I get hit with nostalgia. The smell is the first thing that always takes me back. From the moment you approach the door, the charboiled chicken just fills the air. The sauce pairs perfectly with the Spanish rice and pinto beans! I love the old 4 pc combo, but the burrito is a great bargain for what you get and avoid the hassle of getting through the bones. Never change and save this place at all cost by keep on supporting! Recently, I tried the fish and chips for the first time after all these years, and yes, it’s good as well! Looking forward to keep exploring the menu and all the options they have available

This place use to be a Pioneer Chicken back in the day. However the new owners have made it a Mexican chicken and fish spot and it does not disappoint. The fish tacos are tasty and crunchy. The fish and chips is a sleeper hit! It will satisfy and you will want to come back for more. The Caldo de Pollo is loaded w flavor and chicken. And don’t forget to try the fried banana and flan.

I would come in more often if I wasn’t given the stink eye every time for not replying in Spanish. Sorry, I’m not Latina!!! Food is good, though, not complaining about that. I just expect to be looked at dirty when they ask me something in Spanish and I’m like “I’m sorry, what?”

I know there are many of you here who go to Costco and head towards the back for the Costco Rotiserrie ! That chicken will last meals- eat it plain and later turn it into chicken tacos, enchiladas, chicken salad, and chicken jook or porridge!

El Pollo Supremo(SF) makes really mouth watering Latin inspired charbroiled chicken when you want something a little different! Fish taco as appetizer or snack. Oh, you MUST order the fried zucchini!!! Dip it in a little ranch sauce

With great sadness. I really liked coming here. Disappointing. Food is not as good as it used to be. After 25 years.

I’ve never minded paying for good food. Buying Lechon for $70 back in the day was no problem. It used to be a lil hidden delicious food.

Today, we took a few bites of different things and dump a $70 meal. Literally. Did not find the food good enough to give it away. This may come as a shock but I was shocked and dissapointed. With the Exception of the plantines. Those are still yummy. The recipe has remained the same.

The food is usually good, but today was a disappointment. We had heard that some friends had gotten burnt chicken from here but today it was us. If it would have been one piece it would not have been a big deal, but half the pieces were burnt on one side. This was not a char, it was a layer of black burnt skin and meat.

We live 20mins away and were so over it since this was our only dinner plan, that we did not have it in us to make the drive back to get it swapped. Ended up eating what we could and getting rid of the rest. What a disappointment. Make sure to check your chicken before you leave the store, or risk getting burnt chicken! (Our order was a Family pack meal- 8 piece chicken, rice and beans. The rice and beans were fine, just the chicken was a mess.)

Consistently yummy, juicy, savory and flavorful charbroiled whole chicken. The aroma of chicken on the grill can be smelled from blocks away.

Family Pack is a true value — whole chicken coming with choice of three large sides and tortillas. Great for party catering.

I got the 2 pieces with one side and tortillas. The chicken was really good and tasty. The tortillas were really good also. The price is very reasonable.
