Kaizen is hands down the best sushi spot in Cologne. Every time I visit the city, it’s my first stop. The sushi is always fresh and beautifully prepared – my personal favorites are the Green Diamond and Shrimp Tempura rolls.
The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, service is excellent, and the quality is consistently top-notch. A little tip: pair your sushi with a glass of Riesling – it makes the experience even better. Truly a must-visit for sushi lovers in Cologne!

Exceptional experience. The staff curated a personalized sushi menu for us, selecting each dish with care and expertise. Every course was a delightful surprise, showcasing the chef’s creativity and the freshness of the ingredients. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure that each dish was perfectly suited to our tastes. It’s a must-visit if you find yourself in Köln.

The dining experience at Kaizen was great. Staff was polite, but majorly hands off (something I like); ordering was through a tablet, and you walk to to pay. I didn’t feel pressured at all, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The roll was great, presentation and taste were all amazing.
Desert, however, was incredible! The one with fried mochi was incredible. At first, it took a while to get after ordering, I just thought they got busy. When it came out though, I changed my thinking, I’m pretty sure they made the mochi to order! It was so soft and smooth, and the texture that frying it gave it was next level. I will be coming back.

Incredibly delicious sushi made from the freshest fish – highly recommend! The Riesling was also excellent. Everything was served fairly quickly.
The interior is decent but feels a bit hastily put together. The restrooms, unfortunately, do not match the standard of the restaurant.
You place your order on a tablet, but there’s only one per table, which makes it quite time-consuming for everyone in the group to choose their food.
On the downside, the service leaves much to be desired. You pour your own wine – the waitstaff simply bring the bottle. We were celebrating my brother’s birthday and mentioned it when making the reservation, but there was no acknowledgment of the occasion, which slightly dampened the experience.

Great sushi restaurant to visit in Cologne. Variety of fun drinks and rolls. The karage chicken was to die for! Order on the iPad and the food is brought to your table.

Excellent quality, variety and service. We tried a few appetizers like gyoza, mango salad and butterfish carpaccio, all tasted great and fresh, portion size is generous as well. We also tried some rolls, and they were perfect from the toppings down to the rice and size. Casual and modern atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend this one and will be back.

Food was delicious. Some things we would prefer differently but still well executed and presented. They ran out of rice at some point but the waiter was friendly and informed right away. Otherwise, the food was served really fast and the waitresses kept checking on the drinks so excellent service. Interior of restaurant is small, so i would suggest to reserve and nice decor. Will be back and will definitely recommend.

A Japanese wanna be:
1. After being seated, no menu was given for 10 min. Had to go to one of the employees to ask for it
2. Dirty electronic ordering pad. Did you guys cook on it?
3. 39 EUR sashimi were semi-cooked, the freshness was questionable. The price-quality was not reasonable.
