The first time I ate at Capt “Hurricane” Juels was in the early 70s, my father took me there the day after deep sea fishing.
The food, although no where near as good as it was, is still very good.
We could tell the calamari was frozen, but the main courses were very good. I’m guessing the reason is because it’s now under corporate ownership, which usually means fresh food is an afterthought.
Service was outstanding and very attentive.
If nothing else, this place will always have good memories of spending time as a boy with my father.

Enjoyed lunch here on the waterfront watching the boats go by. The outdoor seating is very pleasant on a nice day. Photos are the Oysters Rockefeller and the stuffed flounder with wasabi coleslaw & hushpuppies with cinnamon butter. The food was great. The service was great. We will be back!

Cocktails and fried seafood… yes, please. This place could serve mediocre food and I’d still go for the view. But the food is good and the drinks are stout. Sit outside for the best experience, especially at sunset.

This is a great place for happy hour on the Intercoastal Waterway! Large happy hour menu and very reasonably priced drinks. Service was excellent. We went on Thursday night and Mr. Bruce was entertaining in the bar – one of the beat singer/guitar players around the beach right now. Highly recommend!

We stopped in here for lunch Sunday around 1pm. We arrived on jetskis and, right away, noticed minimal dock parking but made it work.

We sat at the bar, and the restaurant was nearly empty. The dining area is very large and spacious. They have multiple places where you can eat and a beer garden.

We ordered ultra drafts, and unfortunately, the bartender forgot but mugs in the freezer last night, so we had no chilled mugs.

We got chicken clubs and sandwiches each, both with fries. They were hot and fresh off the grill. Fries were good,
Bartender was reportedly tired stating they were understaffed.

We love little river and we love local business so we will be back to see how the second visit goes.

Came down to Little River for a shrimp fest that got cancelled for bad weather! So we came to Hurricane Juel’s to taste their shrimp fest menu! We are picky eaters but the food and the atmosphere were awesome including the wine list! and the waiter -Logan was great! Will come again!

I had the most incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Mariah was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was comfortable, Mariah made our anniversary dinner so special with her warmth and attention to detail, I can’t wait to come back and try more items from their menu. Definitely a new favorite spot!

I had the blackened catch of the day which was grouper it came Jamaican greens and rice pilaf. The fish had a pineapple salsa on top. I was impressed with how good it was actually. My husband had the breakfast burrito which was too light on the ingredients so we wouldn’t get that again. One little quirk is no refills on coffee which is a bit weird. Overall I was pleased and surprised. Best fish in the area. I highly recommend it.

Second time there and it was abysmal.Fish was overcooked. Server noticed it and asked could the fish be redone. Manager came by. I felt like a real trouble maker. Second piece first two bites were great…then just weird. I filled up on sides for a $24 meal.

We love it here. Ate there twice the past two times we vacationed at Sunset Beach. We love sitting on the back deck, especially in the late evening. Everyone is so nice. You feel like family there and the food is always fresh and delicious. The fresh fish bites are so good and I always get the shrimp po’ boy sandwich. It’s delicious.

Wow! We chose this place due to the creative menu and wished we would have went to one of the smaller restaurants along the pier. The hush puppies and conch fritters were burnt on the outside and rubbery. The She Crab Soup was thick, lumpy and cold, the crab cake was pathetic and didn’t come with the hollandaise sauce, the wedge Cesar salad wasn’t a “wedge salad” and the fried shrimp were cold. We ordered four orders of crab legs which were overcooked, difficult to take out of the shell and they had so much seasoning and butter on the outside of them that your hands were covered with a gross, slimy yuck. The restaurant was extremely dirty, and I’m surprised with the level of uncleanliness someone hasn’t died from food poisoning yet. Read the reviews and don’t waste your money.
