The restaurant itself is beautiful, with nice décor and a cozy ambiance. Once we were seated, the service was good. However, we had to wait more than 10 minutes at the welcome table before anyone came to take us inside, which wasn’t the best first impression.
We ordered crab rangoon, chicken tom yum soup, and tiger beef curry. The crab rangoon was good and probably the best thing we had. The tom yum soup was very average — not bad, but nothing good. The biggest disappointment was the tiger beef. It was honestly disgusting. The beef was extremely dry and the flavor just wasn’t good at all.
I also had Thai iced coffee and mango juice. The Thai iced coffee was okay, but again nothing special. The mango juice was below average.
On top of that, the portion sizes were small for the price they charge. The dishes felt overpriced for the quality and quantity served, and there was also an automatic 20% service charge added to the bill. Considering everything, it just didn’t feel worth it.
I’m from Jersey, and I can confidently say that even small, cheap local Thai restaurants back home taste much better than this overhyped place. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
We had a mixed group of vegan and non-vegans. Nicky’s didn’t disappoint! They had a chefs special of Hot Basil Vegan Duck. Loved the creativity and level of optionality! Everyone that ordered non-vegan menu items loved their food. The Pad See Ew was a hit. Also, highly recommend the mango salad on the menu. It makes for a stunning appetizer. If weather permits the patio is lovely and makes the dinner feel a tad more special.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, go try Nicky’s!
Tom Yum is exactly why I came here. Order the Hotpot and you’ll definitely be delighted. It’s even too big a portion for one person.
We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the water in the background while secluded by flowers and plants. The food was fantastic and the staff was all very kind. (Just a heads up for those dining in- there is a 20% ‘service fee’ already added to your check at the end. Yes the receipt will still ask you for a tip after)
