My son and I went in after golf and sat the bar.Ashley took our drink order and we looked over the food menu. I asked about the Shepherds Pie and she said it was good…she wasn’t lying. It was really good and so was the Guinness I washed it down with. Ashley was great and she made sure we were doing Ok with drinks or anything else we needed. I asked her about their Chicken Curry and she said it wealy great so I told if I ever made it back I’d try it.
Well…a couple of days later my wife and I were looking for lunch so we went back. We sat at a table and were lucky enough to get Ashley again. I asked for a Half & Half ( Harp and Guinness ) and when she brought it to me it was perfect. The chicken Curry was really really good. I’m still craving it back here in the Chicago area. My wife had the Reuben which she loved. I love Fibbar Magees and wish it was near me, great food, great staff and a comfortable atmosphere.

Stopped by Fibbar MaGees and tried a mix of things – Guinness beer, chicken strips, margherita pizza, and jalapeño poppers. The food was very good across the board – tasty and satisfying. The only downside was that the Guinness wasn’t chilled enough, which took away from the experience a bit. Service was just okay, nothing exceptional but not bad either. Overall, a decent spot for food and drinks, with room for improvement on drinks and service.

Lovely and lively place. Went on a Fruit evening with a reservation for a group of 20 people. Excellent environment and wonderful hosts! I believe it was Chelsea (the owner) who take care of us! Wonderful person and great service overall!

Honestly, I have no idea how this place is still open.
It’s cash only, which is already questionable, and we all know why some places choose to do that.

I went in for a calm, end-of-the-night drink and ended up being harassed by another customer. He even pushed my date’s chair, and thankfully the bouncer stepped in immediately.

The drink prices kept changing, and I overheard a couple of guys accusing the bartender of shorting them $5 from their change—which, based on their reactions, didn’t seem like the first time it happened.

When I ordered my drink, it was made incorrectly. When I politely told the bartender, she got extremely frustrated for no reason. I ended up just saying “fine” to avoid more attitude. If you’re working directly with the public, especially behind a bar, having a decent attitude is basic professionalism.

They are pouring way too much alcohol some of us don’t want to be drunk!

On a positive note, the blonde bartender was very professional and made great drinks. She was the only good part of the experience.

I had a big review and it’s gone. You can see the food grilling and fresh produce diced in front of you. The service was spot on. Jan the waitress she’s awesome doesn’t miss your table if she sees your drink is low very experienced. Just ask for her or you . Ight tell her you heard plenty about her.

Thursday night special is where it’s at! The steak and veggies cooked to perfection. Staff was on point and very attentive to an empty pint. Overall really liked the atmosphere and people. Kind of a chill local vibe, great tunes and plenty of screens if you want to catch the game. Leave a “Like” if this reviewed helped. Thanks!

How Can We Help
Went for dinner on 10/11/25 (2 of us). Both ordered different burgers (regular and the Irish). One ordered med and other well. The cooks put the wrong burger on the wrong plates. The Irish was supposed to be medium but got the well done patty. Fries were cooked perfectly. Service was a bit slow at the tables but normally is there. No one ever came back to see if everything was ok. We had to go to the bar to ask for a togo box and the check.

The server is still (in this day & age AND in CA) gender labeling people. The server referred to us as “ladies” several times and one of us does not identify as a lady. This could all be rectified if you tell your staff to start greeting & addressing people in gender neutral terms. Such as, How is everyone today? Hello everyone, Hello or Hi folks, Hello friends, Hi there, how many in your party? Hi, how are we today? Greetings, how is everyone? And, just say “enjoy your meals” without adding a gender tag. When saying goodbye, you can say, thank you & have a great day. No need to say “Bye genders”. Why do your servers feel they need to add genders to everything? Come on, you can do better. To be clear, it was the plus sized server. The other servers did not label us.

I love love love the jalapeño poppers here. Taco Tuesday tacos were rather unwhelming but trivia night vibes were great.

Nut allergy friendly.
Went on Sunday and had the Irish Stew and the Shepherd’s Pie. Good portions for salty but decently flavored bar fare. Drink prices are reasonable (Two pours of Russian River brews were $8-10 each, there are cheaper options). However, service was slow (food came out reasonably quickly, but it took a while for anyone to check on us) and I’m surprised we never got water.

Met 2 buddies here last week for beer and snacks. They have a great selection of beer which is hard to find. The service is friendly and homey. The staff make you feel at home. But the fried snacks were unremarkable and bland. Even the garlic fries lacked flavor too!
