strong yet so smooth! The appetizer we had was the spicy tuna crispy rice and it was also a 10/10! The pasta zaza was amazing , super filling and cooked to perfection. The whipped potatoes that accompanied the honey truffle chicken were also a 10/10! The food and drinks will definitely have me coming back, such a good place!
The food was still solid though. I thought the lobster claws were gonna be bigger than what they were, but that’s what the little claw cream is for, I guess. The lump crab cake though? That thing was dope. Not the dopest thing I’ve ever eaten… but it was definitely up there.
Highly recommended! Will definitely be back.
On the positive side, our waiter was friendly and attentive, checking in regularly to make sure everything was okay. The atmosphere is romantic with a fun, lively vibe, and the restaurant itself was clean, from the seating to the utensils.
For food, I tried the glazed honey chicken, but it was dry and lacked flavor for a $45 plate—definitely not what I expected. The highlight of the night was the sausage pizza; it was delicious and worth coming back for. The Mexican margarita cocktail was very good as well.
Overall, while the wait and my entrée were disappointing, the pizza, cocktail, and attentive service made for some redeeming moments. I would return specifically for the pizza.
I have been a loyal customer of Drake’s Hollywood since February and have dined at the Dallas location five times this year alone. I chose to celebrate my anniversary there tonight, but I must express my concerns regarding recent changes at this location over the past nine months, particularly concerning pricing and menu offerings.
While I understand that price adjustments can occur, the alterations to the menu have been disappointing. As a fan of the Mac & Cheese, I was disheartened to discover that it no longer features a broiled cheese topping. I was informed that this change was made due to customer feedback about cheese hardening when cold; however, the cheese topping was an integral part of the dish.
Additionally, the strawberry lemonade has shifted from using fresh strawberries and puree to a strawberry syrup, significantly affecting its taste and overall quality. I also attempted to order loaded mashed potatoes, but was informed that only loaded potatoes were available. My request for loaded mashed potatoes with truffle butter and additional toppings was denied by the kitchen, which was disheartening.
These small changes have diminished my dining experience. As a paying customer, I would have willingly paid extra for these modifications, but the kitchen’s refusal to accommodate these requests was disappointing. We regularly order the filet classique and honey truffle chicken along with extra sides, and the inability to modify the menu, coupled with a $25 price increase in just nine months, is concerning.
Moreover, I have noticed a decrease in portion sizes. I have a video comparison from earlier this year to today, highlighting a smaller cut of chicken and filet, which, despite being advertised as the same portion size, is not consistent. The filet also lacked the flavor and tenderness for which Drake’s is known. I had to send my filet back twice, which is an experience I have never encountered in the past. Unfortunately, by the time my meal was returned, my spouse had already finished hers, and the overall dinner service was noticeably slower than usual.
As a customer who expects to spend a minimum of $300 when dining out, I anticipate being able to order exactly what I desire. As a private chef, I look forward to enjoying a great dining experience; however, tonight was quite disappointing. Although our waitress was polite and helpful, the overall experience did not meet the standards I associate with Drake’s.
I am unsure if these issues stem from the kitchen staff or if they reflect company-wide changes. I hope this feedback is taken seriously.
The food came out fresh and hot, and Ivan made awesome recommendations that did NOT disappoint! You can tell he really cares about giving great service and making sure his tables have a great experience.
If you’re dining in at Drake’s, definitely ask for Ivan — he’ll take great care of you!
