For my appetizer I had the Chicken empanadas. The crust was flaky and the inside was delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection. And the drizzle on the plate hit so hard! It was delicious.
For my entree I got the Chipotle Shrimp. The showstopper was the creamy white wine sauce and the rice. I was in food heaven. This dish was so flavorful, the shrimp was legit perfect. Not chewy and overdone. You can tell the chef really loved what they do. Everything felt like home. Whenever I dine out, I want to feel like, I can’t get this dish anywhere else but here and I left feeling great because it was everything I could ask for.
Sandra was extremely attentive and ensured we were taken care of. If you are ever in Navy Yard and want good authentic mexican cuisine, you’ve come to the right place.
10/10
What really made the experience stand out, though, was our waiter Luz. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and welcoming, and genuinely made us feel taken care of from start to finish. Her positive energy and kindness added so much to the meal and really elevated the whole experience.
Between the amazing food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service, Agua 301 is definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend!
The menu shines across the board. Crispy empanadas with a golden, flaky crust, flavorful rolled tacos, and beautifully prepared shrimp all arrive well-plated and hot. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared, not rushed or generic. Pair it with one of their margaritas—bright, balanced, and not overly sweet—and it’s an ideal combination.
Service is excellent: attentive without hovering, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The staff makes you feel relaxed and taken care of, which elevates the entire experience. Add in the lively patio setting, and Agua 301 becomes an easy choice for a casual meal that still feels special.
If you’re looking for consistently great Mexican food, exceptional guacamole, and warm, professional service, Agua 301 delivers every time.
I really want to give this place five because the food is consistently good, often even better than I expect. The flavors are fresh, the dishes are well executed, and it’s a spot I genuinely enjoy returning to for the menu alone. The barbacoa tacos in particular are excellent and worth ordering.
Where things fall short, especially at this price point, is the service. It’s not terrible, but it’s frequently underwhelming… slow follow-through, uneven attentiveness, or a general lack of polish that doesn’t quite match the quality of the food.
That said, I keep coming back because the kitchen clearly delivers. If the service experience caught up with what’s happening on the plate, this would easily be a five-star restaurant. I’m rooting for it.
But what truly made the night exceptional was our server, RIA. She was outstanding from start to finish. RIA was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave excellent recommendations. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and made sure everything came out perfectly. Her energy was positive, professional, and genuinely welcoming — you can tell she takes pride in providing great service.
It’s rare to find someone who elevates the entire dining experience the way she did. RIA made us feel valued, taken care of, and appreciated as guests.
We will absolutely be back — and we’ll definitely be requesting RIA again. Highly recommend! ✨
When I go during happy hour, Luz usually takes care of me, and she’s exceptional. She treats me like I’m the only person in the restaurant, even when it’s busy. She’s sweet, humble, and incredibly attentive, always checking in at just the right time and making sure everything is perfect without being overbearing. She truly makes the experience feel personal and welcoming every time.
I also come for brunch before Sunday Nats games, and it’s become part of my routine. The drinks are strong, the food always hits, and it’s the perfect way to start game day.
In the evenings, I’m usually at the bar with A-Quil as the bartender, and he’s just as attentive and personable.
I see the manager around often too. I don’t know his name, but he always seems ready to jump in and help wherever needed. I really love coming here.
