We were in Chesapeake to prepare for a Carnival Cruise. My husband and I decided to stop at the Village Inn to grab a bite to eat before heading to our parking garage. The upset people leaving as we walked in should’ve been a sign to abort highly suggested by my husband. We decided to stay. We were then greeted by the hostess who tells us that they only had two ppl working and one of which didn’t know what he was doing. Again we decided to give it a shot. After being seated our waitress came and took our drinks orders. While waiting for her to return, a couple sitting next to us gets up and leaves after not having their food order taken. We ordered our food and when we received it, my husband chicken tenders were so hard and looked like they had be recooked in old grease, my reuben sandwich had little to no corned beef and so much horseradish and sauerkraut it made the bread so soggy. The crinkle fries were somewhat good except the burnt ones.We voiced our disappointment with the food to the waitress who by the way who was very nice and apologetic. She took it back to the kitchen and when she returned she stated the cook said he made a mistake, he would like the opportunity to make it right. At which time I told her that I would definitely pay for the drinks because those were the only thing that was right and we we’re just going to leave. She told us again how sorry she was and told us not to worry about it. As we were leaving two employees walked into Subway right with us to order subs smh. At that moment I was like something is definitely wrong if even the workers don’t want to eat there. I believe in second chances but not with Village Inn in Chesapeake at 1509 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322

I can’t speak for the food because we never received it. We were there for almost an hour and only had water and coffee. We told our waiter several times that we had somewhere to be and that if we didn’t get our food soon, we would have to leave. This happened about three different times and all three times he said he would check on our food and he would never come back and give us any updates. I don’t believe he was checking on our food because every time I looked he was doing something else. Also, the entire time we were there, we didn’t see any food brought out to tables. There was a lot of clinging around in the kitchen, but no food coming out. I also watched our waiter take about 15 minutes just to take a tables order that only had three people. I was like he didn’t know what he was doing. And when I asked for decaf coffee, he said he wasn’t sure if they had it. I don’t care if you don’t have it in that moment it’s not hard to brew. I don’t need to know all of that just make the coffee. Anyway, it was my first time going there and it will be my last especially after hearing how they treated the people of Eagle point who used to have lunch their weekly in a group of about 15 and how poorly they were treated. This all makes sense now. Although if you have all day and you don’t mind terrible service by all means to try this place out.

Visiting from San Antonio. My daughter in law, who lives in Chesapeake, took me there. My first time eating there and will definitely NOT be my last! SUPER nice waitress! Everything was DELICIOUS! Service was EXCELLENT! So many great options on the menu to order from! I had strawberry rhubarb pie after my meal and it was DELICIOUS!

Looking for a spot to try. We had an early dinner here. I ordered the chop steak. My friend had the adult grilled cheese.

I recently ordered delivery here after my cousin recommended it during my visit. My son really enjoyed his meal, and some in my group liked their food as well. However, my personal experience was mixed.

I specifically requested my eggs to be scrambled well, but they arrived sunny-side up instead, which was disappointing. On top of that, the food lacked seasoning, making it less enjoyable for me. Unfortunately, I ended up throwing my eggs away.

While the restaurant might be a great choice for some, based on my experience, attention to customer requests and seasoning could use improvement. If ordering delivery, I recommend double-checking special requests to ensure accuracy.

Would I order again? Maybe—but next time, it would have to be a dine-in experience so I can ensure my food is prepared exactly as requested.

We went to the Village Inn on Sunday. The place was almost empty. Only 2 other tables had people at them. Our server was great though at 7pm, one hour before closing they seemed to be out of everything. They were out of coffee, sweet tea and white bread. How difficult is it to make a pot of coffee? What about sweet tea? Our plates were overcrowded with food which is a nice portion but I couldn’t even see my hashbrowns. I ordered a savory Crepe and it was sweet. Sweet doesn’t go with savory. My BF order Eggs and fried steak. It was not edible. How could a breakfast place have no coffee or sweet tea.

Village Inn is my go-to spot, and for good reason – the atmosphere is wonderful and the food is top-notch. But if I’m being completely honest, it’s Iris who really makes the experience shine. She’s an exceptional waitress, but more than that, she’s a friend. We always leave feeling uplifted, thanks to her warm hospitality and bright smile. Iris, you’re the best – thanks for all that you do!

$6.71 for a 1/3 cup of soup is obsurd. Never again!! The soup wasnt hot, was luke warm like no effort for presentation was put into it. Every item should be presented pleasing to the eye. Service was average, not welcoming at all. Wasn’t offered a seat. No menu was offered. The cakes in the display were beautiful. The restaurant was clean, and patrons appeared to be happy with their food choice.
