It is. Literary-themed sandwiches! The staff is the loveliest, the food is good, and the books are fantastic. I always leave with a box.

This is an adorable concept and a convenient spot to hop off the highway for a break. The draw here is unique: purchase a meal and you get to take home three books for free. While the walls are lined with titles to peruse, there are two main drawbacks to the layout. First, the books aren’t organized in any specific order. Second, the shelves are located directly behind the dining tables, which creates the awkward situation of strangers leaning over your meal to browse. I also noticed the selection for children was quite limited.

The menu is classic American diner fare, featuring burgers, sandwiches, and fries. The poutine was tasty, though it’s worth noting it uses cheese sauce rather than traditional curds. The burgers had good flavor and plenty of topping options, despite being a little greasy, but the steak tips were unfortunately dry and overcooked.

While it was pricier than expected, it’s still a charming place to stop, stretch your legs, and perhaps find a new book for the rest of your trip.

My friend and I came down here on a random Thursday over February vacation. We’re book lovers so it was only right to explore this place. Our server was so kind. Food was good and you get 3 books free when you purchase your meal. They also have a book cellar if you wanted to purchase more books.

I’ve passed by The Traveler Restaurant my whole life on road trips up north, but only just stopped in for the first time last night! There weren’t too many people there, but it made for a lowkey dinner. The food arrived quickly, and everything we had was actually much better than we were expecting. Cool concept with all of the books lining the dining room, and we appreciated that you could take 3 for free. Also walked around the book cellar too. There weren’t really any titles that grabbed us though. My main critique is that it was pretty dusty… we looked at one of the lights and the cobwebs on it made it look like a Halloween decoration. You have to wonder if the dining room is that neglected, how bad is the state of the kitchen? Wouldn’t be in a rush to come back, but glad I can say I’ve been to what’s considered such an iconic roadside stop.

This is a fun place to grab a bit to eat. It’s a little off the busy path and very unassuming. But the food is always great. Today we had breakfast. Omelet with hash and cheese is my favorite. Service is great!

For the atmosphere – your eating a meal in a book store. How cool is that. You can take home 3 books from the upstairs with every meal purchased. If you don’t find the book your looking, there is a whole down stairs to look as well. The books dow stairs are like new and very reasonably priced.

For a unique dinning experience I recommend giving this place a try.

OMG!! You can NOT go wrong with your order! My mom got the eggs and the sourdough toast (AMAZING) I got the Apple Cinnamon pancakes EVEN BETTER!! We got an extra order to bring home with us as we live 2 hours away!!

The service was OUTSTANDING!! We were NEVER ignored, she always changed to see if we needed anything, asked how everything was, she was on top of everything and AWESOME!!
My book with my meal, “The Derby Boy’s” is BRAND new and signed, 1st edition, from the author, who lives in CT. I am SO excited to take this book I otherwise wouldn’t have found.
I HIGHLY recommend going!!

I took my partner here for lunch for Valentine’s Day! We had made a reservation, and I recommend that others do the same, as it was quite busy, and we were able to sit right away! The idea of pairing three books with a meal is really fun and sparks some conversation at the table. The food was delicious, and each dish was named after a cute/clever book or author pun. The downstairs bookstore had an intriguing selection of both classic and new reads as well! Overall, we had a great time from service to food and will definitely return. 🙂

Cozy spot on the border of Connecticut and Massachusetts. Restaurant and book shop.
We had a delicious meal of New England Clam Chowder, White Fang Burger and Steak Tips. We finished the meal with a Chocolate Lava cake and Black Raspberry milkshake.
Burger was perfectly cooked to order with bacon and blue cheese crumble.
The steak tips were juicy and well marinated.
The Chocolate Lava Cake was rich dark chocolate. The milkshake was thick, creamy and super tasty.
We each got a free book with our meal.
There is also a downstairs where you can shop for many more second hand books.

Definitely stop by here for a meal and a book!

This was our first time here. We found out looking for a spot on the way to MA . I ordered the raven. It was really good. I believe my buddy order the red badge of courage. He said it was really good. This place is so cool. There are books everywhere. Looks like you can purchase different sets of books and it sounds like there were books downstairs as well. We definitely plan to come back when we have some more time so we can explore the place in general and try out different foods. Some of the foods are named after books. The staff was also very friendly.

This restaurant is really fun! Besides being a book-seller they have a great restaurant! While waiting for out table, which was only about20 minutes, we went downstairs and looked through their great selection of used books. I actually found one I didn’t know I wanted lol. I enjoyed the fish sandwich which was breaded and came with fries, coleslaw and a side of tartar sauce. It was excellent! We had a good time looking around the restaurant at all the puzzles too. I hope to go again soon.
