Somehow I had never tried this local institution before. I really enjoyed my lunch of fried chicken and sides and my wife really enjoyed her veggie plate commenting it brought her back to Sundays at Grandmothers.
High praise indeed, so why 4 stars…temp of sides from steam table was warm at best, honestly cut into the enjoyment of them. And, the service line is as close to a prison commissary that I ever hope to experience.
That said we both enjoyed our lunch and look forward to returning.

Super good. Went in on Thursday at 4’30 and had never been before, I was explained how everything worked very well by the lady serving meat and the waitress was very tentative. The food was literally perfect, wouldn’t change a thing. Went ahead and got some dessert too and the peanut butter pie was delicious and was the strawberry cake. And the bathrooms were very clean.

We thought we were getting country cooking but… it was anything but that. The potatoes were fake and not even seasoned, green beans and navy beans were from a can and not seasoned to even taste good. The chicken was good… we were expecting food like you get at Grandmas place since it’s a cafeteria but far from it… I’ll give them this though, there were quite a few people there and people getting take out… we would never come back… we wished we had gone to Edna’s….

The manager is very selfish! Nobody should visit this place. She needs to be brought off her high horse. She doesn’t care about NOBODY but herself. Her cooks need to learn how to season just a bit. It’s not worth what you pay. Yuck.

Great food. Very sweet staff. However the person checking us out should never stand there coughing . Luckily I tossed a napkin over my food. Asap!

The Village is our place to go, usually 3 times per week. We like a certain table, and we are predictable. The Village is consistent with good southern cuisine. We like the food options and the “country” recipes. As a perk, we are fortunate to see and visit with friends who also dine frequently. The staff is like extended family. I met Teresa decades ago (at The Village) and she is a great friend. Hunter is an excellent cook who often shares samples of new recipes for feedback. The Village is authentically Southern and so are we.

I ordered beef and noodles and Mac and cheese, and okra. The noodles aren’t noodles its shell macaroni. So I had shell mac and cheese and beef and shell macaroni. Its not good. I thought it would be noodles. Dont advertise noodles and use macaroni. I was very dissapointed. Too much tomato sauce that burned my mouth. Some things are good, but not this. I wish they would correct this.

We are staying at a campground about 15 minutes from this place and after setting up it was suggested to eat here. It is pretty easy to find and located in almost a downtown area. It is set up just as you would think a carefteria would be. After you get your tray you get to choose your food and desert. We had chicken vegetables and cube steak. We also got strawberry cake. The price was really good for all that we good and the food was great. It is your meat and three country style restaurant. The staff were all super nice and helpful. It was very typical of country restaurant. The restaurant had wood walls and ceiling which added to the look of it. It was cute, tasty, friendly and a great opportunity to visit a local mom and pop place. Would definitely go back. The menu options change each day so we are sure we will back to try some more food.
