The burger was just average, nothing special about the taste.
The service could be better; it was a bit slow and not very friendly.
Overall, it’s an average spot not terrible, but I probably wouldn’t rush back.
The space carries a post-club patina—dim, loud, and unmistakably grimy. What might read as edgy to some instead feels neglected. On our visit, the staff appeared stretched thin, with only two or three working the room. To their credit, the burgers arrived in good time, and the team did what they could within clear constraints.
The burgers themselves were adequate. The smash technique delivered a passable crust, and the flavor was decent, but nothing more. There was no sense of originality or signature—no detail that distinguished these from any number of similar counters across the country. At the price point, one hopes for either creativity or indulgence. Here, there was neither.
More telling was the feeling that followed. After finishing, I found myself still hungry, not just in appetite but in satisfaction—already thinking about what else I might eat to make the meal feel complete. That lingering desire for something better is rarely a good sign.
On flavor alone, this might approach a middle ground. But dining is more than taste. The atmosphere, the value, the sense of care, and the memory you carry out the door all matter. Taken together—the grimy setting, the thin staffing, the unremarkable food, and the price—it becomes difficult to justify a return.
In the end, Papi Smash’d Burger feels like a pale, overpriced imitation of better fast-casual burger spots. It fills a gap in a moment of convenience, but little else.
My rating: ★★☆☆☆
1 star — I will never return.
2 stars — If nearby, I might return, but without urgency.
3 stars — Worth a visit if in the area, though not a destination in itself.
4 stars — Worth going out of your way to enjoy.
5 stars — I would fly around the world for this meal.
Not only is the food incredible—fresh, flavorful, and full of personality—but the people behind it truly care about the community. You can feel the love they pour into everything they do, from their delicious smash burgers to their involvement in local events and causes.
It’s rare to find a business that serves amazing food and gives back so consistently. Every visit feels like supporting family. Papi Smash Orlando isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a community staple. Highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t already!
