Social Profile:

Situated in the heart of Valletta, Legligin offers a tasting menu featuring a cross-section of traditional Maltese and Mediterranean speciality dishes. The home-cooked style dishes in our tasting menu vary from day to day, subject to what we find fresh at the market. The dinner tasting menu develops slowly over 7 dishes, typically consisting of local favourites ranging from the traditional stew-like Aljotta (fish soup), through to a variety of Malta and Gozo Tnaqqir (tapas), fish and seafood dishes, and hearty slow-cooked meat specials. The lunch menu shares the same concept but with a slightly reduced number of dishes in order to leave you energised and nourished for the rest of the day in gorgeous Valletta.

Authentic local Maltese food in a cozy restaurant. The staff were very professional and attentive and the food was tasty and plentiful. You book unaware of the menu as it changes daily dependent on what’s available at the market. The dinner is a 7 course delight but the only choice you get is dessert. Don’t let this put you off though, the food was delicious and we left happy and full.
The added bonus is you could not bore of the menu if visiting regularly….

This is a great place to experience real Maltese cuisine, with the added twist that you don’t know what the 5-course lunch, or 7-course dinner menu will consist of.

The 5-course lunch menu is very reasonably priced, although we went for the premium wine pairing that added considerably to the price.

Our host was very knowlegible about both the local food and wines that were served up. The lunch began with an assortment of small plates, followed by a fish soup (bream), pork pasta, rabbit stew and a selection of sweets. The service speed was just right, being not too slow or fast, giving us a chance to fully savour each course.

All in all, this was a very reasonable way to try very nicely cooked local fare in a cosy, comfortable restaurant.

We went here to celebrate a birthday and loved the place. The service was great, the place was cosy and authentic. I loved that you didn’t know what was coming in each course – I liked every dish served, particularly the fish course and rabbit dish. There was more than enough food for the two of us.
We didn’t get the wine tasting but sampled some of the half bottles of Maltese wine which was very good. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

With advanced warning Legligin was able to produce me a fully veggie gluten free tasting menu which was delicious! The restaurant has a relaxed vibe and the staff were very friendly. My non coeliac friends were very impressed too.

Amazing experience! Went there for a solo date & loved the cozy atmosphere. The staff were super sweet & the food was delicious. I tried a bit of everything: dips, artichokes, fish, octopus, rabbit stew, pasta, potato soup & a bread pudding for dessert.

I didn’t quite understand the pairing of wines with the courses for the majority of the meals and really non of the courses wowed me with flavor. They were more “cozy” and “mild” in flavor and texture. Very reasonably priced for how much you get. Staff was very attentive

The 5 course menu met our expectations and let us enjoy a bite of maltese cuisine.
We forgot taking pictures of 2 of the dishes, rabbit pasta and small apetizers including cheese, hummus and rabbit paté.
They were followed by a aljotta soup that left us wanting a second round since it was so good, and amazing pork cheeks with potatoes.
We had 4 different desserts to choose from, and asee were 4 people, each one of us got a different one. They were Tiramisú, crème brûlée, white chocolate cheesecake and traditional malteese chocolate pudding.
We had such a great experience getting to try this food.
Would 100% recommend to a friend.

This was one of the best meals that I had when I visited Malta! I went for lunch and really loved each of the dishes that I had, they were delicious and really captured the local flavors and ingredients. The service was also incredible – the staff did a wonderful job of explaining each of the dishes and pacing the courses well. The restaurant itself is also beautiful, I loved the decor and the atmosphere as a whole.

I would love to go back on my next trip!

Worth every penny. The setting and ambiance were super cute. I went for a food tour in the morning/afternoon with a dinner reservation at Legligin booked and I feared the worst because I was full after the tour. The food tour guide actually recommended the restaurant as well. It was a 7 course menu that didn’t feel I was feel like I was over-indulging. Most dishes were quite light and delicious and the service was really quick. It was also nice getting brief insights into the history of the dishes as well.
