We had a late evening meal and everyone was extremely happy with the food that was served. We got a variety off the menu and were pleased with each meal. The crab cakes were a pleasant appetizer to start off our meal. The market fish was amazing and very tasty.
Our female server was ok, but nothing special. She rarely came to our table and then spilled water on my daughter when she passed by.
The man JR was amazing!!!! He was super sweet and made our meal amazing and gave us great suggestions of places to visit while at the park. We felt well taken care of with him.
Overall, if you want a spectacular experience for the ambiance of a cool place to eat, then make sure to make reservations here. The food is expensive (30-60 a plate) but the food is quite delicious and worth it. I wish we had room for dessert, since we saw several tables order and were impressed with what we saw.
Normally I’d go for my preferred cocktail, an espresso martini, but being southern themed, I HAD to go for the peach tea with rum.
My husband has celiacs disease and is vegan.
His go to dishes here are the beet salad and pistachio lemon basil pasta (yes, they can make it GF upon request), delicious! I really enjoy the prime rib when it’s available (also gf, not vegan).
Sip a glass of wine, watch the boats go by and enjoy getting off your feet with some good food, cheers!
The restaurant itself is super cool in the middle of the ride, you get to take the whole vibe in and it’s just great.
The service was great as well. Very kind staff and they took great care of us.
We started with the Gumbo and the bread. And let me tell ya the Gumbo is freaking delicious, I would’ve been happy with just that. The bread was tasty as well with the fresh jam and butter that comes with it. We also got their lemonade which was the best I’ve ever had (I had 4 glasses of the stuff)
My wife and I both got the Prime Rib steak and it was so tasty, it was nice and tender and was seasoned very well. The potatoes were also seasoned well although a little bit salty. And the asparagus was delicious, my wife doesn’t normally like asparagus and she loved it.
We got a slice of Chocolate Cake to share and it was one of the best slices I’ve ever had, just nice and moist cake with tasty icing.
We had a great experience here. The reservations are super hard to get and it can be very pricy, my wife and I paid a little under $200 for our meal. We felt very satisfied with the portion sizes as well, although we could’ve had some more Gumbo.
Overall this is a great restaurant and we had a great time. If your looking for a great fancy restaurant in Disney I would definitely consider this one
Our server, Jordan, was great! He was nice, funny, and super on top of everything. He also convinced us to order everything on the menu that we were on the fence about, and two cocktails later, we couldn’t be more grateful. I had the Sweet Peach Iced Tea with Rum, which was amazing. After a whole day consuming sweets, I was looking for something refreshing with a little bitterness to it, and this drink did just that. It was not too sweet, and the tea flavor had just the right amount of bitterness. For those looking for a sweeter cocktail, the Hurricane is definitely the way to go. Light and dark rum with passionfruit and citrus juices. This tasted like pure nectar, like orange juice from the Garden of Eden itself.
I had the crab cakes for my appetizer, which, at $18, came with 2 crab cakes and a small apple arugula salad. I’m a bit on the fence about the value as the portion only came with 2 crab cakes and the size of each crab cake was smaller than expected. If I were to nitpick further, I thought that the outside of the crab cakes were a bit overdone and dry. But other than that, the flavor was good and the inside of the cakes were still enjoyable.
For my entree, I had the prime rib, which came with mashed potatoes and roasted broccolini. The steak was tender and juicy, and I liked the peppercorn demi-glace sauce. Just be careful as there is a salt crust, and my first bite was only that, which was a bit of a nasty surprise.
One of my friends got the Prix-Fixe menu, which came with a dark chocolate pistachio cheesecake. At this point, we were all stuffed, so we shared it. It did not taste like pistachio, which is what I loved about it. It was actually a pretty good cheesecake – not too sweet, tangy, and the bitterness of the dark chocolate balanced everything out. Speaking of being stuffed, I will say that the portion sizes of the entrees are huge. I was struggling to get down my last bites of steak, and my friend who got the entree-sized portion of the gumbo was marooned on gumbo island. To be super honest, the gumbo was delicious. Like it was really good. Like it was better than the ribeye and the prime rib, good. The flavors were wonderful, and the dish was perfectly seasoned. If you are not that hungry, I would highly suggest you stick to the appetizer-sized portion.
In the end, I decided to give 5 stars to Blue Bayou because for a theme park dining experience, this was very good. I could definitely see myself coming back, but would probably opt to share dishes next time as the portion sizes are very big. I hope that I will be able to sit one additional row closer to the water next time as well.
