The place has a cute Mexican country vibe. Service is great, fast and friendly. I would not be able to comment on their non vegetarian choices today as we opted for vegetarian food and it was below average, 1-2 options and the rice in veg burrito is made with chicken broth, so even that’s not an option unless you opt out of having rice in it. The burrito was a disaster. Drinks were good, I had the bartender choice and it was lovely.

The food was disgusting. It was terrible. The service was absolutely absurd. We didn’t get any service really whatsoever. He was standing by the station on his phone the entire time the food barely had any flavor like we barely finished our food. They still charge us full price. The shrimp is not clean. It doesn’t taste good. None of their food taste authentic it taste out of a can. Customer service is a zero everything just taste gross like it’s made out of a can and warmed up and then serves was trash. Nothing was fresh. Nothing tasted fresh. It was terrible.

This place was about as average and common as you find for Mexican Restaurants in the Midwest. Nothing bad at all but nothing great. The specialty “shaker margaritas” are 3x more expensive than a regular marg and in our opinion was worse but we gave it a try non the less. Spicy salsa as well, very good.

The first thing I noticed was the prices for margaritas; $3.50 for a regular lime on the rocks in a decent size glass. (I didn’t ask what size) I chose the Cuervo Gold marg for $5.95. It was perfect.
The brought out chips salsa and bean dip. Bothe appetizers very tasty. The prices on the regular menu were similar to many lunch menus. I ordered the carne asada burrito with the spicy green sauce on top. I like it spicy. My wife ordered the chicken fajita salad in a tortilla bowl. We both agreed that this restaurant was a great choice to stop at while we were in West Des Moines.

First off, the free bean dip, salsa, and warm chips were delicious! Also $2.99 margheritas that happen to also taste great- Amazing! My partner and I stopped at Mi Mexico for lunch. In addition to the items listed above, we shared an order of chicken mole. Portion was great for sharing and as a mole leaned more toward peanut with a hint of chocolate. I recommend it! Ample seating, staff wearing masks, and clean bathrooms all contributed to a safe and enjoyable lunch.

My friend and I decided to try Mi Mexico for the first time. The restaurant was warm and inviting when we entered. We were seated promptly in a cozy booth near the bar. It was quiet, and the lighting was perfect. The salsa was the best I have had in a while! Love the garlic you can taste in it and it has the perfect kick, which the bean dip balances out. I got the chicken fajita burrito combo. As well as a tamale. The burrito was so filling, the rice and beans delicious, and the slaw was a nice touch! The meat of the Tamale was so well seasoned and the masa was moist! Overall was just a great, comforting experience. ☺️
