We are back as of today (12/05/2018), and it is good to be back. We’d like to thank you all for your support and patience. Micha’s Restaurant is a family owned business established back on May 1st 1976, and we’ve continued up until April 13th 2018, and were shut down shortly, due to a fire that consumed most of the interior. After 8 long months of rebuilding and remodeling, we kept ourselves going through our catering division, working through a commissary kitchen. On December 5th 2018, we finally reopened our doors to the public, and have been back in business ever since.

Circa-1976 spot for Mexican classics including green chile & menudo in a basic, no-frills space.

I really wanted to love this place—being from South Tucson, it almost feels like a requirement to love Micha’s. But experiences like this make it hard to stay loyal.

The food was mid at best. Most of it tasted reheated, especially the ground beef tacos. We ordered the red menudo, which came out very thick, and after a few sips it honestly tasted like cleaning supplies. I’m assuming maybe someone sprayed something nearby and it drifted into the soup, but either way, we had to send it back.

We also ordered a #2 off the breakfast menu, which included bacon. Unfortunately, the bacon was burnt. And when our waitress brought out the food, she spilled some of the menudo on my mom. I don’t know whether to be grateful the soup was only lukewarm or disappointed that we were about to eat lukewarm soup in the first place. The apology we got was… let’s just say it felt half-hearted.

When we told the owner about the menudo tasting like cleaning products and mentioned the burnt bacon, the response was, “Are all four pieces of bacon still on the table?” If customers need to line up bacon as evidence before it’s taken seriously, I think the restaurant has bigger issues than cleaning-supply-flavored menudo.

Micha’s has this whole “phoenix rising from the ashes” theme after the fire a few years back, and I think that’s a beautiful way to turn a negative into a positive—but unfortunately it seems to work better as a metaphor than in practice. They’re nowhere near rising above; honestly, at this point I wouldn’t even expect “better,” just decent or average for the loyal customers who keep trying to give them another chance.

I hope they can truly rise someday—but this visit wasn’t it.

Stopped by today from a roadtrip to NM. Menudo was Awful, was 99% Hominey almost ZerO menudo meat. Salsa & chips was as if from taco bell. Nice restaurant and servers tho.

Average. When seated for a party of 4, two of our chairs were dirty with stickiness and chip pieces. The complimentary chips and salsa were ok; one was spicy and one mild. The spicy salsa was actually spicy; I liked that. The chips kind on the stale. The service by the server was mid. For our party of four, only two people were given menus. We requested additional menus and were then given. The server did arrive promptly with waters with lemon when initially seated. The waiter never introduced herself by name therefore making it hard to get her attention. She retreated to the work station leaving our table to have to awkwardly wave here down. We order a pitcher of margarita and it served 8 drinks total. However it was a watery, diluted, excessive ice, and sadly only a slight taste of tequila. Not too big of an issue though because she brought a full pitcher and 4 glasses already filled with margaritas; a great bonus. The food arrived in 12 mins. The flavor was average. I was not tasting the seasonings that makes you a lover to Mexican food. I had a machacca burro with enchilada sauce and other had green Chile enchiladas. All four guest felt the same about the lack of pizzaz in food flavor.

It’s sad because the place used to be very popular and so delicious 25 years ago. The prices have increased per post plandemic as expected but the quality and service has declined. I would like to give this place another chance however, I’d feel sad to be disappointed again.

Great breakfast. We had the menudo and juevos rancheros and both were delicious, generous portions. Great value. Good service

My dad has his heart set on breakfast. I grabbed him a menu that was openly available. The waitress pull the menu and said “no more breakfast, only lunch.” She was very rude. We looked at each other and contemplated leaving. Because it had been many years since we visited Michas and had very fond memories there from decades of going there, we decided to stay.
Food was good, but it may be many years before we go back.

The food was great, not crowded. Prices are very reasonable, clean and organized the waitress was friendly and on top of things lots of parking. Easy access located just north of I10 on 4th ave.

The beans were unbelievable and so was the soup. The fail was the lack of care for the seats, bathroom and tables. The food was plentiful, but the atmosphere was careless.
