Delighted to have dined at Chao Ban for lunch. Cozy place. We did not reserve any table and luckily able to find a table that was able to accommodate our big group inside the restaurant. All the food was tasty and we were blown away. The peach tea with lemongrass is so refreshing and nice. Pomelo and shrimp starter is a good apetitiser. The unforgettable dishes were lacquered pork ribs, prawn in coconut cream and oven seabass in banana leaf (fish is nicely cooked, so tender and fresh). Really live up to its Michelin Bib Gourmand award. You will not regret making a trip here.

The food was delicious. We had two firsts: crab spring rolls and jellyfish salad. Both were amazing! As mains we had the lacquered pork ribs and the caramel pork. The rib meat fell off the bones and the caramel pork was succulent.
Definitely recommend a visit for a chill sit down dining experience.

Happened to dine at two Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Hanoi today. They were so different in quality with Chao Ban clearly deserving the honor while the other located in the Old Town was very lacking. I was the only guest in the other restaurant at lunch where the food was overseasoned and several staff were napping. Chao Ban’s owner Vincent Page made a point to check on his guests and had well-appointed rooms with excellent staff support. The food I tried was well prepared and flavorful including the spring rolls with crab, and prawns in coconut cream served in a coconut shell. The banana cake with coconut ice cream which was his mother’s recipe, was really balanced between the warm and fragant banana cake with touches of coconut flakes and the ice cream. I didn’t think I would have room for dessert but it was too tasty not to finish! What also sets Chao Banh apart is the ambiance is very inviting, impeccably decorated and so charming inside a renovated French villa. Highly recommend the great food, attentive staff, beautiful space and overall experience. Save room for dessert!

A nice dinner in a very upscale restaurant in Hanoi. Compared to the rest of Hanoi, this is very expensive. Think 4-5x the price for a meal. The food was flashy and nice, but was it worth the price? We cannot decide. This meal costed the same as the previous 3 we had combined. Still a great meal though in a nice restaurant.

Very happy we came here for dinner. The food was the best of our trip and the vibe of the outdoor seating is so cute. The inside is a four storey beautiful old home done up as a restaurant. Service was great! We would definitely come back our next visit.
Oh and I can’t forget the dessert! We had the crème brûlée and the chocolate cake, delicious!

The food was amazing — especially the grilled shrimp, which was absolutely my favorite. Chào Bạn has such a beautiful and unique space, definitely one of the nicest spots in Tây Hồ.
But make sure you go to the right location — the one created by Executive Chef Vincent Cao Minh Page, at Villa 28, Alley 11, Tô Ngọc Vân. That’s where you’ll get the real, original Chào Bạn flavors they’ve kept consistent for over five years.
I’ve been a loyal customer for a long time, and every visit just reminds me why I keep coming back. Highly recommend!

Our family of three made a reservation at Chao Ban and was glad that we came here. The restaurant is in a cute 4 level house. The service here was excellent. We were greeted by their staff and sat down outside. The food was unique with lots of flavor. We would definitely come back for it.

The place was phenomenal, great for couples, families etc with many areas. I really like the spacious outdoor place. The food was normal, not too special but it was ok

Food was ok. We got tasting menu. Most dishes were pretty tasty but overpriced compared to local restaurants. Some dishes were bland. To be honest the street food around here is better tasting than the food here. Lots of mosquitos outside. Service was ok.

Wonderful experience and excellent food. I’ll definitely be back again. Great ambiance outside even though it was cold, they have a heater and blanket.
* Foreigners should remember to be kind. I witnessed two different rude couples barking orders at the staff- that’s not the vibe folks. It’s just dinner, no need to be extra.
