Lone Star is the collaboration of the shared and individual experiences of owners Aaron Sanders and Max Toste, who spent much of their early years in Texas and Southern California, respectively. The flavors found on our menu are both familiar and robust, inspired by the open air markets and taquerías of Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, Oaxaca and Mexico City. At Lone Star our focus is on mezcal, tequila, and Mexican street food. We utilize fresh ingredients prepared in a variety of ways to produce a complexity within simple fare. This being said, the true purpose of Lone Star was to create a fun and relaxing environment where we and all of our friends would want to hang out.
Hip, wood-paneled cantina serving modern Mexican street food plus mezcals & many tequilas.

Drinks, are phenomenal. I have had a drink or two that I didn’t like but that was just my preference.
Always always a wonderful experience. I am Mexican and can safely say this food is great. I am writing this response mostly to the negative comments complaining the food isn’t “authentic”. It’s not, and it is not supposed to be. Grow up and appreciate different takes on foods. Also if you are complaining its spicy – its supposed to be that way. Ask for less spicy ingredients on your food. I am sorry to the poor service experiences people have had but can assure you I have never encountered anything like that in my almost weekly experiences for a year.
Legit comfort food for anyone who remembers when MTV played music and “Supreme” meant extra flavor, not a brand.
Let’s start with the food, because it’s shockingly bad. Not “bar food bad.” Not “overpriced bad.” Actively awful. Poor quality, carelessly prepared, and seemingly thrown together by people who do not care in the slightest what they’re serving. It tastes like something made out of spite rather than ingredients.
What truly crosses the line is that the staff openly admits the food sucks. When I told them the food was terrible, the response I got was a casual “I know,” followed by laughter and them walking away. No apology. No replacement. No concern. Just open mockery. If the people working there know the food is garbage and laugh about it, that tells you everything you need to know about this place.
The staff’s attitude is hostile, lazy, and wildly unprofessional. You’re treated like an inconvenience for daring to spend money there. There’s no accountability, no pride, and no effort—just indifference and contempt.
The overall vibe is equally awful. Dirty, chaotic, and uncomfortable, with the feeling that no one in charge cares enough to fix anything. It feels like a bar that has completely given up and is just waiting to be shut down.
There is no reason to come here. The food is bad, the service is worse, and the staff openly laughs at customers who complain. This place doesn’t deserve business, sympathy, or second chances. Do not eat here. Do not drink here. Do not support this mess of an establishment.
Go literally anywhere else. Like Orale . Best tacos on Cambridge street , better staff and better drinks .
Cambridge edition of LSTB consistently carries its weight- hand made, freshly prepared tacos from the all-day menu are the raison d’être. That said, options abound (plates, tostadas, tortas) so there’s ample variety. The Street Corn is a keeper..
Limited beer options but does offer a rotating tap ticks it down a notch, but apart from that, it is easy to become a regular!
We ordered nachos, tacos, and a tostada. The nachos was the last thing to come out, when clearly thats an appetizer. The nachos were okay, the cheese was congealed on top which was not the greatest and too much coleslaw.
The tacos were adequate. It was food. Nothing truly to talk about. The tostada was alright.
The food was cheap which was nice. But yeah this place is just perfectly average.
I had the fish taco and spicy beef taco with the Mexicano Margarita.
The staff is fun and friendly but so are their patrons! Great to hang out or for a quick satisfying meal.
Their tortilla chips are thick, hot and fresh.
