This sonic is awful. Don’t waste your money. The red button often times out before they even take your order. The touch pay function almost never works. The food is awful but the drinks are usually passable. I have had a lot of experiences here and they’ve all been relatively the same.

Save your money! BLT was awful. Looked and tasted like last week’s bacon. Minimal lettuce and tiny tomato. Was told they were out of lettuce and tomato after receiving burger. Then someone brought some in a bag. French fries and tots were dry tough and hollow like they sat under a heat lamp most of the day. Never received part of order after asking. Total bust.

Dear Sonic Customer Service,

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an experience at your Wytheville, Virginia location this evening 10/10/2025.

Upon arriving, I was greeted by a team member named Micah, who was extremely courteous and transparent. He explained that the store was short-staffed, with only two employees working, and that food orders would take approximately 30 minutes. I greatly appreciated his professionalism and honesty. I informed him that I would only be ordering drinks, as Sonic’s beverages and ice are a favorite of mine and the primary reason I continue to visit your establishments.

Unfortunately, I was unable to place my order through the Sonic app, as it was not connecting or allowing me to submit my order. I kindly asked that my drink order be adjusted to reflect the half-price offer typically available through the app, as this has been honored at other Sonic locations (including this one in the past) when the app experiences technical issues.

Micah explained that he could not override the price because it was after Happy Hour, and that this was company policy. He sought clarification from his shift lead, who confirmed that he should not make any adjustments. When I asked for her name, he indicated that he did not know it.

I would like clarification as to whether this is truly Sonic’s company policy. If it is, while I respectfully disagree, I will accept it and simply take my business elsewhere when the app is down — as the issue is not the customer’s fault. However, if this is not official company policy, I would strongly encourage management to send a reminder or updated guidance to all stores to ensure consistency.

The inconsistency from one location to another is frustrating and diminishes the customer experience. I want to emphasize that Micah handled the situation with great professionalism and respect — my concern lies solely with the policy and lack of uniformity across locations.

Thank you for taking the time to review this matter. I look forward to your clarification on whether the employee’s response reflects Sonic’s official policy and what steps will be taken to ensure consistent service standards across locations.

Appears brand new. Beautiful wooded and shady property. Good value and flavorful food as fast food goes. Short staffed. One person was running all sales, call ins, drive ups, and walk ups. She was fantastic, understanding, and friendly. Not close to the interstate though. Overall, a great place to stop in Waterville, VA if one is not pressed for time.

This location needs someone to manage it properly and take care of customer orders. The team members need the tools to operate efficiently, You have to wait long periods of time to get waited on and even longer to get your order. My wife Door dashes on the side and she hardly ever gets an order on time. Or claim they don’t have the order or on multiple occasions can’t process order an can only take cash. No Dasher wants to spend 45 minutes for a 3.00 order cause the restaurant can’t process it. Have even heard employees talking among themselves how they hate their job and they didn’t like to even process Doordash orders. As well as equipment not working properly. As for the maintenance of this location, it is very run down compared to others. The restrooms are always dirty and the parking lot needs major repairs. The order screens hardly ever work. This reflects back to the owner as well as the Sonic name in general. I personally don’t recommend this restaurant unless some major changes are made , if this can’t be done, they should just shut down.

As of 12/1/2024 this location has stepped up its game at this location, The parking lot is finally fixed, Food service and taste has improved drastically , order boards finally working . Stars are rising on this review, if this keeps up , I’ll be removing the negative review part and pics . Thanks for the improvements at this location

Ordered a couple things, grilled cheese and tea. Repeated myself several times. Then I raised my voice in case she couldn’t hear me. She didn’t like that and cursed my up and down. Then didn’t get my receipt or chamge. Kristy Krista? Talk about a foul mouth to her customer. All I can say is Wow!!

I love a good Sonic. The drinks are always good, something about the ice. And of course cherry limeade. Milkshakes here are amazing. But the burgers are definitely why I’m here, it’s not just a McDonald’s or a regular driving burger these burgers actually taste like a burger. Think I got the double bacon cheeseburger which I probably shouldn’t crush but it’s way too good. I could eat Sonic three times a week no problems. This specific one really hits the spot the staff is always on time they have never messed up a meal I’ve eaten here probably 3 or 4 times. Definitely would recommend.

Girl there today working lunch by herself was phenomenal. I wish I remembered her name, but I’m terrible at names. Every time I’m there and she’s working, she always does a great job and makes the fast food experience a good one. She’s always working hard and going above and beyond to make sure everything is done in a timely manner and customers are leaving happy. She deserves a raise!! Get on it, Sonic! Great job!

Ordered online and still waited 45 mins and when we finally got our food you could tell it had been sitting there the whole 45 mins definitely no where near fresh won’t be going back.

Needs better managing. Took at least 20 minutes to get our order. We had to ask where our order was. they finally brought it out they said smash burgers are cooked to order but our food was cold. If they’re cooked to order it should have been hot. the bathrooms are nasty also. I can’t believe this place has a 4.0 review
