Hailing from entrepreneurial families, Hanadi and Jamaal always dreamed of owning their own business. Jamaal’s mother, a master at baking Mediterranean treats, graciously shared her secret family recipes with the two, and the couple got to work in the kitchen. While brainstorming names for their new venture, they combined their last names, Asad and Ali, to form Asali. They quickly discovered that Asali is also the word for sweets and honey in both Arabic and Persian – a happy coincidence! Seeing an opportunity to seize their dream, Asali Desserts was founded in 2001. Since then, Asali has expanded to include specialty cakes and event services, as well as a brick-and-mortar cafe in Cary’s MacGregor Village.

They’ve got a great variety of drinks and desserts. We ordered the earl grey tea, espresso mocha mousse, and the lady bracelet. Everything tasted great! The lady bracelet was a little on the dry side, but still enjoyable.
Overall, definitely recommend stopping by. Perfect spot to relax, sip something tasty, and explore their dessert selection.
The service was amazing—friendly and welcoming. They have a lot of dessert options, which looked so good. I tried the Turkish coffee, and honestly, it’s one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. The prices are very reasonable for both the drinks and desserts.
I’ll definitely be going back, especially for the Turkish coffee, and next time I’ll make sure to try some of their desserts too.
I highly suggest Asali for high end catering as well as for stopping by just to treat yourself or grab a coffee.
We were searching for the Mille Feuille cake or something similar like the Napoleon.
We found it in Asali from reviews and went to visit.
We ordered the Napoleon and the cheese cake, also 2 large Tea
The Napoleon was NOT authentic Napoleon with a little crunchy flaky layers, it was totally mushy, the custard cream was bland, lack of taste and sugar. The cheese cake had heavy texture, no taste and again, lack of sweetness.
The tea was just OK.
The total of the bill was $35 for 2 cakes and 2 lg cups of tea.
Service was attentive on taking orders and on deliver the food to the table, the rest was mostly self service.
Ambiance was OK, the cafe decorated subtle with nice lighting, lots of people working or doing homework with their laptops
We were so hyped up to have found somewhere we could have liked and to be our go to, but it was a total disappointment.
We won’t be back and the search for a good bakery continues
My brother-in-law stops by almost every other week just for their coffee, which says a lot about how consistent and welcoming this place is.
Whether you’re in the mood for an elegant dessert, a cozy coffee outing, or just want to soak in the gorgeous interiors, Asali never disappoints. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!
