You know a place is good when you’re already looking forward to your next visit before you’ve even walked out the door. Kool Beanz Café never disappoints. Hands down my favorite place to eat in Tallahassee. The atmosphere is casual, fun, and welcoming. The portions are generous, the food is packed with flavor, and the service is warm, attentive, and friendly, which immediately makes you feel right at home.
One of the things I love most is that the menu constantly changes so there’s always something new to try and fall in love with. Every visit feels fresh, yet the quality is consistently incredible. On our most recent visit, there were so many tempting options on the menu that picking just one was nearly impossible. We ended up ordering several dishes and finished the night with dessert. Every single bite was fantastic.

Greta was a lovely server, and the food was delish! I got the maduros and black bean cakes for a nice and filling vegetarian lunch! I sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the buzz of the kitchen and flames from the stove. Great solo lunch vibe. Also, Sammy is whipping up those salads like nobody’s business!! 5 star every time I come

If I could give 6 stars I would- wow! Amazing service, delicious food, reasonable prices, and a homey atmosphere. Everything was fantastic, and our server Jessica made the night & was so knowledgeable about the menu, she even helped me (super indecisive) navigate the menu. The wine list was very inclusive and reflected some unique wines & flavors. Also lots of GF/DF stuff!! Gluten free friendly 🙂 Such a great spot and a true Tallahassee Gem!

Kool Beanz has to be the only place in town I’ve seen that can deliver amazing food with such exceptional service! I went there yesterday for an anniversary and they didn’t disappoint! I love the menu diversity along with how consistent they were with making their food (I saw other people order the Grilled Octopus and it was all plated the same). Fantastic work overall and I can’t wait to go there again!

Ate here last night and I’m still thinking about our amazing meals today! If you like eggplant please try the fried eggplant with tomato jam appetizer! I got the blackened mahi with crawfish etouffee and crispy kale for my entree and my husband got the peppered flank steak with onion rings and mashed potatoes. Both were delicious! The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed sitting at the bar close to kitchen. Our waitress was very friendly, loved her energy and glad we took her advice on menu recommendations! Too many great options to choose from and she was very helpful. We don’t get out much and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience last night! Just what we needed 🙂 Thank you kool beanz!

We dined in around 7:30-close 11/22/25. The staff including our sweet waiter Mana were all amazing and that alone is a reason to go back. We had a baby with us and everyone was so kind and understanding (he knocked over some water). The food was great and came out at perfect times. You can tell the staff care about the experience their guests have. One of the other sweet foh staff helped us get some great family photos. The gentleman who I am assuming was the manager on duty was very hands on and attentive to guests. Kitchen seemed like a well oiled machine. Thank you so much for helping make our birthday dinner so special!

Second time dining here. Pork belly was very flavorful but could have been cooked a little longer in the over/broiler. The lamb shanks was very tender and tasty but just seemed like the spice over powered the dish. I should have gone with the Salmon or Trout as those dishes looked really excellent. Dessert was refreshing with mango lime baked Alaska. Overall the experience will have me coming back to try another dish.

This place may not look like much from the outside, but don’t be fooled. Easily one of the best places in town. I have yet to have a bad meal here. And the service is always amazing. And with the constantly changing menu, there is always something new to try.

I’ve been to Kool Beanz Cafe several times over the years, but it had been a while since my last visit after moving away from Tallahassee. I came home this weekend to celebrate my 35th birthday, and I could not let the moment pass without sharing what an exceptional experience I had.
Our server, Mana, was by far one of the most pleasant people I have encountered. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine personality never missed a beat, which makes the next two acknowledgments even more mind blowing. While we were enjoying the fresh bread served before our meal, a young lady named Samantha stopped by and kindly asked if we would like olive oil for dipping. We did not ask, she simply noticed and offered. When she returned, she had thoughtfully warmed and seasoned the oil and attended to us as if we were her own table.
Then there was Ryan, the manager, who checked on us consistently throughout our time there. You would have thought we were VIP guests by the way the three of them treated us with such care and hospitality.
Now let’s talk about the food. Baby, the food was a solid 10 out of 10. My brother ordered the fried green tomatoes and the corn crab chowder as his meal, and I ordered the mahi with potatoes and green beans. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked with intention. It was simply an amazing meal from start to finish.
I have always enjoyed Kool Beanz and have never had a poor experience, but this visit was truly worth sharing. I do not know if there has been a change in management or what magic is happening behind the scenes, but whatever it is, please keep it up. I will absolutely be back.
